This lizard is light gray or beige in color its dorsal scales have black or dark brown edges. The scales on the sides run diagonally. The belly is yellow. Juveniles are black with white sports on the lips and the head and have a blue or bluish tail. The GreatPlains Skink is very common on the GreatPlains , ranging from south eastern Wyoming and Nebraska and also Fremont County, Iowa down to eastern Arizona , Texas , and into Mexico . This skink lives in open plains habitat or the eastern foothills of the Rocky Mountains , in areas near water, e.g. irrigation ditches. In southeastern Colorado, it occurs in elevation up to about 1900  m 7200  ft in northern Colorado, only at elevations below about 1400  m 4500  ft . NOTOC article too short for a ToC History The festival began in 2002 as a three day bar gig event with shows at The Overdrive Nightclub, The Longbranch Country and Western Bar and The Sutherland Hotel. The festival has since grown, attracting bigger names and bigger venues. Emo Philips headlined an event at Saskatoon s Castle Theatre in 2006. Bob Levy comedian Bob Levy best known for his appearances on The Howard Stern Show headlined The Odeon Events Centre in 2007. The Potash Corp came on board in 2007 to sponsor The Potash Corp All Star Comedy Jam, an event in the Adam Ballroom in Saskatoon s historic Delta Bessborough Hotel. The event is a clean comedy show for all ages and has sold out both years it has taken place. Even the Grey Cup Champion Saskatchewan Roughriders have become involved in the festival s success. In July 2008, The GreatPlains Comedy Festival celebrated its 7th edition. The festival moved to June in 2009 and in 2011 celebrated its ten year anniversary.
