It is surrounded by a portico with columns and capitals such as Turkish Prayer Hall which is topped by arches supported by ancient columns and capitals.     Thulukkar are the Muslim population in south and central Kerala who speak Tamil language Tamil as their mother tongue. They are supposed to have migrated from Tamil Nadu to various parts of Kerala through the Western Ghats. Many members of Thulukkar community have migrated to Pakistan after independence have settled in Karachi , Sindh . They are called as anna in Kerala, owing to Pseudo Tamil Language they Speak. In north and central Kerala native Muslims are predominant and are called Mappila . While in the erstwhile Travancore region, Thulukkars are the common Muslims. Especially in Kollam, Trivandrum districts and in certain pockets in eastern highranges like Pathanamthitta,Erattupetta,Kanjirappally. Many Tamil Muslims migrated to Alappuzha from places like Tirunelveli , Madurai , and Thanjavur during the last 50 60 Years and they are also rightfully Thulukkar. They speak Tamil Urdu between them.
