Francis Harold died March 18, 1685 was an Irish Franciscan and historical writer. He was for some time professor of theology in the Irish College in Prague and afterwards went to Rome, where he spent the remaining years of his life in the Irish Franciscan College of St. Isadore, fulfilling the duties of librarian. In Rome in 1662 he published in two folio printing folio volumes an epitome of the Annals of his uncle Luke Wadding , extending from 1208 to 1540, to which he prefixed a life of Wadding, dedicating it to Cardinal Francesco Barberini seniore Francesco Barberini . This life was again published in Rome in 1731. He also wrote Beati Thuribii Alphonsi Mogroveii archiepiscopi Limensis vita exemplaris , published in Rome in 1683. A copy of this work with the author s manuscript corrections is still preserved in the library of the Royal Irish Academy . His Lima Limata conciliis, constitutionibus synodalibus et aliis monumentis . . . notis et scholiis illustrata , published in Rome in 1673, contains a collection of documents connected with the councils and other affairs of importance in the Church of Peru. Moody was born in Kingston, Jamaica Kingston , Jamaica in 1882, the son of a pharmacist. In 1904 he sailed to the United Kingdom to study medicine at King s College London . In 1913 Moody married Olive Tranter , a nurse with whom he worked at the Royal Eye Hospital . Moody s brother Ludlow Moody Ludlow also studied medicine in London and won the Huxley Prize for physiology at King s. Ludlow married Vera Manley and both returned to the Caribbean. Charles Arundel Moody , Harold s son, became an officer in the British Army, rising to the rank of colonel . Moody is credited with overturning the Special Restriction Order or Coloured Seamen s Act of 1925, a discriminatory measure which sought to provide subsidies to merchant shipping employing only British nationals and required alien seamen many of whom had served the United Kingdom during the First World War to register with their local police. Many black and Asian British nationals had no proof of identity and were made redundant. Moody died in 1944 at the age of 67.
