unreferenced date April 2010 The Franconian International School FIS is an international school based in Erlangen serving the Nuremberg metropolitan area community in Germany . History The Franconian International School FIS was founded in 1998 to serve the needs of a growing international community in the N rnberg, Erlangen, F rth and Herzogenaurach areas. In September 1998 the FIS opened its doors in Haundorf to 25 students in a combined Grade 1 2 class. By September 1999 the FIS had grown to three classes, and moved to the Dassler Villa in the west of Herzogenaurach. Our growing Middle School classes caused another move, this time in September 2003 to a restored convent, also in Herzogenaurach. Since August 2008 the FIS has occupied its own, purpose built campus with state of the art facilities in Erlangen. This facility includes modern classrooms, fully equipped science labs, specialist art and music rooms, two PC labs, library, cafeteria and a double gymnasium. In 12 years the FIS has grown from 25 students to over 500 representing nearly 40 nationalities, taught by a highly qualified and dedicated international teaching staff. Johannes Leck chner ca. 1430s&ndash 1482 was a 15th century priest and fencing fencer of the area of Nuremberg . He was inscribed at the University of Leipzig in 1455 and receives the title of bacalaureus in 1457. He was consecrated as acolyte in 1459, and as priest at some point before 1478.
