Born near Elkton, Maryland , McCullough pursued an academic course at Elkton Academy and later studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1837, commencing practice in Elkton. He served in the Maryland State Senate from 1845 until 1851, and was an unsuccessful candidate in 1850 for election to the Thirty second Congress. In 1850, he was appointed one of the codifiers of the laws of Maryland. In 1864, McCullough was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty ninth and Fortieth Congresses, serving Maryland s United States House of Representatives, Maryland District 1 1st Congressional district from March 4, 1865 until March 3, 1869. He resumed the practice of law and was for many years counsel for the Philadelphia, Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad. He was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1864 and 1868, and later served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1880 and 1881. Barber served in the second Wisconsin Constitutional Convention of 1847 and ran against Nelson Dewey for Governor of Wisconsin losing the election. Hiram Norton ca 1799 1875 was a merchant and political figure in Upper Canada . He was born in Vermont around 1799 and settled in Prescott, Ontario Prescott . In 1833, he became a justice of the peace in the Johnstown District, Upper Canada Johnstown District . He represented Grenville County, Ontario Grenville in the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada from 1831 to 1838 as a Reform Party pre Confederation Reformer . During the 1830s, he operated a stage coach between Montreal and Toronto with Barnabas Dickinson, the father of Moss Kent Dickinson . At the time of the Upper Canada Rebellion , he left Upper Canada and settled in Lockport, Illinois . Norton became an important industrialist, operating a water powered flour mill drawing power from the Illinois and Michigan Canal . He died in Lockport in 1875. Hiram Belcher was a United States Representative from Maine . He was born in Hallowell, Maine Hallowell on February 23, 1790. He attended the rural schools and the local academy in town. Belcher studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Farmington, Maine Farmington in 1812. He was elected town clerk of the community and served from 1814 to 1819 member of the State house of representatives in 1822, 1829, and 1832 served in the Maine State Senate . He was elected as a Whig Party United States Whig to the Thirtieth Congress March 4, 1847  March 3, 1849 . He was chairman of the Committee on Mileage. He was not a candidate for reelection. He re engaged in the practice of his profession until his death in Farmington on May 6, 1857. His interment was in Center Meeting House Cemetery. Wright started a newspaper the Prairie du Chien Patriot , in 1848. He also studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1850. Wright was a county judge. He served in the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1853 and in the Wisconsin State Senate in 1851 1852.
