Orphan date February 2009 SQL Processing Using File Input is a database facility invented by IBM for interfacing with their IBM DB2 DB2 system. It is accessed from within Time Sharing Option TSO ISPF from the DB2I Primary Option menu. SPUFI allows direct input of SQL commands in the TSO environment, rather than having them embedded within a program. SPUFI defaults Once set up the SPUFI defaults are unlikely to be changed. Their values are very similar across installations, a typical example is shown below. CURRENT SPUFI DEFAULTS SSID DDBA Enter the following to control your SPUFI session 1 SQL TERMINATOR .. When the user moves on from the main screen, the standard ISPF ISPF Editor ISPF editor is opened on the input dataset. At this point the user can enter the required SQL statements using the familiar editor. 1. CLIST

Multiple issues notability October 2011 unreferenced October 2011 unreferenced December 2009 CLIST Command List pronounced C List is a Procedural programming procedural programming language for Time Sharing Option TSO in MVS systems. It originated in OS 360 Release 20 and has assumed a secondary role since the availability of Rexx in TSO E Version 2. In its basic form, a CLIST program or CLIST for short can take the form of a simple list of command computing commands to be executed in strict sequence like a DOS batch file .bat file . However, CLIST also features If Then Else logic as well as loop constructs. CLIST is an interpreted language . That is, the computer must translate a CLIST every time the program is executed. CLISTs therefore tend to be slower than programs written in compiled language s such as COBOL , FORTRAN , or PL I PL 1 . A program written in a compiled language is translated once to create a load module or executable . CLIST can read write MVS files and read write from to a TSO terminal. It can read parameters from the caller and also features a function to hold global variables and pass them between CLISTs. A CLIST can also call an MVS application program written in COBOL or PL I , for example . CLISTs can be run in background by running Job Control Language JCL which executes the TSO control program IKJEFT01 . TSO I O screens and menus using ISPF dialog services can be displayed by CLISTs. Compare the function of CLIST with that provided by REXX . Example program PROC 0 WRITE HELLO WORLD Adding If Then Else logic MULTI LINGUAL HELLO WORLD PROGRAM. THIS CLIST, STORED AS USERID.TSO.CLIST TEST , CAN BE INVOKED FROM THE ISPF COMMAND LINE AS SHOWN IN THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLE COMMAND TSO TEST SPANISH PROC 1 LANGUAGE IF &LANGUAGE SPANISH THEN WRITE HOLA, MUNDO ELSE IF &LANGUAGE FRENCH THEN WRITE BONJOUR, MONDE ELSE WRITE HELLO, WORLD EXIT Note Here PROC is treated as a separate routine. Multiple issues orphan April 2012 notability August 2010 unreferenced November 2008 Imagestack Deleted image removed Image Asa1.png thumb As Easy As 3 splash screen 1987 Deleted image removed Image Asa2.png thumb Version 3.0 s main screen with pull down menu active As Easy As was a shareware spreadsheet for MS DOS developed in the mid 1980s which endured until the end of the MS DOS era of computing. The software was also rewritten for Windows. The name is a play on the phrase as easy as 1 2 3 , a reference to the dominant MS DOS spreadsheet, Lotus 1 2 3 . The program was sold by Trius, Inc. Not to be confused with Tritus, the makers of the Tritus SPF clone of the mainframe ISPF interface and editor. As Easy As is historically significant as one of the earliest and most useful shareware programs that competed with commercial software on the basis of both price and features. For small businesses and personal users, the price of Lotus 1 2 3 was prohibitive, and As Easy As provided basic spreadsheet functionality for about a tenth of the price. This paradigm of undercutting the spreadsheet market leader would be adopted by Borland s Quattro Pro which was not released until 1990 . Subsequent versions of As Easy As became as powerful as any MS DOS spreadsheet. Like Quattro Pro, As Easy As combined some elements of the 1 2 3 user interface, while modernizing them. One such modernization is the use of pull down menus. Cell formulas are very similar to Lotus 1 2 3, including the letter number addressing scheme A1, B2, etc. and the function syntax e.g., code SUM A1..A10 code using the .. range separator syntax also like Lotus 1 2 3. The product included a detailed electronic manual describing the spreadsheet s functions and some basic MS DOS operations. Updated versions of As Easy As were made available at frequent intervals. Because these new versions often included valuable new capabilities, users were encouraged to support the continuing development of the program. It is a ...   more details

  1. Resource Measurement Facility

Resource Measurement Facility RMF is a performance monitor for the z OS Operating System. It also collects data for long term performance analysis and capacity planning. The product consists of the following components Monitor I Data Gatherer which collets data in adjustable intervals from one minute to one hour. The data is written to IBM System Management Facilities SMF data sets. RMF Monitor I uses the SMF data record types 70 to 78. In addition a dataspace can be created for the Monitor I data gather in which the most recent RMF SMF data records are buffered so that the RMF Postprocessor can access and process them immediately. Monitor III Data Gatherer collects data for short term and immediate data analysis. The data is collected in intervals ranging from 10 seconds to 10 minutes. The data is written to RMF Monitor III VSAM data sets and internally recorded in a wrap around buffer. The data gatherer also collets some special data for long term data analysis and records them in RMF SMF records too. Monitor II is the original snap shot monitor of RMF. This function also records information in RMF SMF record type 79 and provides interfaces for other reporting functions like SDSF . Over the years this function became less important and is today mostly used as a data provider for other reporting components. RMF Postprocessor is the reporting tool for RMF SMF records of type 70 to 78. It generates a big number of tabular and textuel reports for long term data analysis which provide a lot of detail of z OS and System z performance. RMF Spreadsheet Reporter is an extension of the RMF Postprocessor and displays selected data in spreadsheet applications on a workstation. RMF Monitor III Reporter is the display tool of RMF Monitor III data. The function is written in ISPF and runs under a TSO session on z OS. The reporter allows to move forward and backward in time and uses RMF Monitor III in storage buffer and data sets to access the collected data. RMF PM and the RMF W ...   more details
