Use dmy dates date March 2012 Image Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae frontispiece.jpg thumb right Frontispiece Illustrationes florae Novae Hollandiae is an 1813 publication by the botanical illustrator Ferdinand Bauer . Bauer was scientific illustrator on board the Investigator ship Investigator during Matthew Flinders exploration of Australia, and as such he worked closely with the expedition s naturalist, Robert Brown botanist Robert Brown . When these men returned to England in 1805, they brought with them thousands of specimens and hundreds of sketches. Initially, they planned to publish a large scale work, to be entitled Illustrationes florae Novae Hollandiae , but this venture failed, and Brown decided to publish his scientific descriptions separately, in Transactions of the Linnean Society of London , and later his own Prodromus Florae Novae Hollandiae et Insulae Van Diemen . Bauer then undertook to publish a lesser work himself, with Brown providing text limited to a brief preface and some captioning. ref name Hewson 1999 cite book first Helen last Hewson year 1999 title Australia 300 years of botanical illustration publisher CSIRO Publishing location Collingwood, Victoria isbn 0 643 06366 8 ref Unusually, Bauer not only did all the illustrations, but also engraved the printing ... name Hewson 1999 Three issues of Illustrationes florae Novae Hollandiae were published, all in 1813 ... accessdate 14 September 2007 ref gallery Image Banksia coccinea Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae plate 3 .jpg Plate III Banksia coccinea gallery References wikisourcelang la Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae commons Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae ... art Category Botany books Category Botany in Australia Category Florae de Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae es Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae pl Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae ru Illustrationes Florae Novae Hollandiae ...   more details

Crotalaria novae hollandiae , known commonly as the New Holland Rattlepod , is a species of flowering plant that is native to parts of Western Australia in the Kimberley Region. Description The New Holland Rattlepod is a member of the Eudicots, a part of the larger Angiosperm division of flowering plants. It has characteristically bright yellow flowers and larger brown pods. Since they are in the family Fabaceae , they are distantly related to legumes such as peas, lima beans, and lentils. Although related though, the New Holland Rattlepods are not meant to be ingested and are not a source of food for humans. 1. Ordinum Hollandiae ac Westfrisiae pietas

Ordinum Hollandiae ac Westfrisiae pietas The Piety of the States of Holland and Westfriesland is a 1613 book on church polity by Hugo Grotius . It was the first publication of Grotius, a prominent jurist and Remonstrant , concerned with the Calvinist Arminian debate and its ramifications, a major factor in the politics of the Netherlands in the 1610s. The Ordinum pietas , as it is known for short, gave a commentary on the Five Articles of Remonstrance of 1610 that were the legacy of the theological views of Jacobus Arminius , who died in 1609. ref Rabbie, p. 8 http books.google.co.uk books?id bP1 TZh36YwC&pg PA8 Google Books . ref Background In arguing for a relaxation of orthodox Calvinism , or from another perspective against the hardening of Reformed theology along the lines proposed by his colleague and opponent Franciscus Gomarus , Arminius had appealed to the secular authorities. As a tactical move this appeal had brought advantages but in the following years the Remonstrants, as the followers of Arminianism became called, had to face great resistance both to their views and to their approach to settling a dispute within the Dutch Reformed Church that was theological by recourse to the civil powers. Grotius held a prominent legal office, being Advocate General to the States of Holland and Zealand. In the period from the Hague Conference of 1611 between Remonstrants and their opponents the Contra Remonstrants , the views of Grotius were not widely known. It was with the publication of the Ordinum Pietas that he came off the fence, and became identified with the Remonstrant cause. ref name Meletius Guillaume Henri Marie Posthumus Meyjes, Meletius, sive, De iis quae inter Christianos conveniunt epistola 1988 , pp.13 4 http books.google.co.uk books?id WnxLTa6vQSkC&pg PA13 Google Books . ref The consequences on a personal level for the author were serious six years later ... sacra http books.google.co.uk books?id IKydEjBXh5gC Google Books .
