Philosophy of Existence German language German Existenzphilosophie , 1938 is a book by German psychiatrist and philosopher Karl Jaspers . It is both a discussion on the history of philosophy and an exposition of Jaspers own philosophical system, which is often viewed as a form of existentialism . He put forth concepts such as existence in a minimal and superficial state, dasein the word is also used by Martin Heidegger , but with different meanings , and Existenz , a state of authentic true being, and their relationship with the encompassing , an elusive being often understood as the totality of consciousness, the world itself, and other forms of determinate objects. Jaspers stressed the importance of transcendence , similar to the term leap of faith implied in the works of S ren Kierkegaard . The English version translated by Richard F. Grabau was published in 1971. It was included in a series of books of Continental Philosophy , edited by John Silber and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. It began as a mod computer gaming modification for the computer game , Battlefield Vietnam . The modification featured content based on a hypothetical conflict between United States and Russia n forces in Africa using a mix of real and prototype weapons and vehicles of each country. The team behind the PoE modification attempted to put an emphasis on allowing the public to see the inner workings of the mod, which can be seen by reading their news posts or browsing through the Interactive Development Section on their main site. A sequel for Battlefield 2 , Point of Existence 2 , was released on August 26 2006. Unlike the original POE, Point of Existence 2 features the Ukrainian Army vs. the USMC & German Bundeswehr . Release history The mod had its first public release on the 23rd of August 2004, a 0.1 beta version. In December 2004 a version 0.2 Beta was released which included new weapons and vehicles. A version 0.3 Beta was released in February 2005. On May 29, 2005, the 0.4.2 Beta was released followed by the 0.4.4 patch in June of that same year, it was the final version for Battlefield Vietnam. The first public PoE 2 beta, 1.0 was made available for downloading via torrent on Thursday August 24, 2006 but was password protected until the official release date of August 26, 2006.
