    Orphan date February 2009 The Inner City Games were founded by Daniel Hernandez,of the Hollenbeck Youth Center, in 1991 as a way to build self confidence , self reliance and camaraderie among inner city youth . The Games began in East Los Angeles, California East Los Angeles with more than 40,000 youths competing in Sport athletic and academic competitions . In the wake of the Los Angeles riots of 1992 LA riots in 1992 , Hernandez envisioned the Games expanding citywide and then nationally. Hernandez shared this vision with Arnold Schwarzenegger who agreed to be the Games Executive Commissioner. In 1995, the National Inner City Games Foundation was established. This original line up produced 2 albums, Passout and The Maximum Effect . A compilation of out takes and demos Punkadelic was released during the same period. They have since played over 300 live shows in Taiwan, Canada , and other parts of Asia . It has been 3 years since The Black Lung Inner City Choir released their debut album If I Leave For home . It also features collaboration with a singer from the Amis tribe who accompanies the band in her native language.     Image RBI logo 2.png right Merge to Memphis Redbirds Foundation discuss Talk Memphis Redbirds Foundation Proposed merge date June 2010 The RBI Reviving Baseball in Inner City program is the Memphis Redbirds implementation of RBI Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities , a program sponsored by Major League Baseball in an attempt to renew interest in baseball in inner city neighborhoods. The Memphis RBI program helps inner city children, gives them safe summer activity uniforms, equipment, daily lunches and Redbirds games. All these things and more are provided during the seven week long summer RBI program funded by the Memphis Redbirds Foundation . This program gives children living in troubled neighborhoods a fun and safe activity during the summer months. Since the program s inception in 1998, the number of children involved has grown to approximately 1,100, and there are now sites in virtually every corner of the Memphis, Tennessee area. Currently, there are 14 RBI sites in North Frayser and Douglass South Whitehaven and Corry East East and Sheffield West West Memphis I and West Memphis II Each RBI participant enjoys the benefits of playing organized baseball or softball in a positive environment. However, this program has accomplished much more than just giving children a chance to play ball it has assisted children in disadvantaged areas by teaching them how to help themselves through goal setting, self respect, discipline, teamwork and community pride.
