The BioWeb is the connotation for a Computer network network of web enabled biological devices e.g. trees , plants , and flowers which extends an internet of things to the Internet of Living Things of natural Sensory perception sensory devices. The BioWeb devices give insights to real time ecological data and feedback to changes in the Natural environment environment . The biodiversity of today is one giant ecological mesh network of information exchange , and a resource World population humanity should be able to access for a better understanding of the state of our global ecology. Technology The BioWeb information technologies emerge from the interdisciplinarity interdisciplinary fields of biotechnology and nanotechnology . The devices for reading individual ecological systems can be either wireless transmitters implemented into the organic cell structure of seeds or external inserted network nodes with the ability to read information and wirelessly transmit the information to the Internet or network . For example, the botanicalls system transmits information obtained from the devices to twitter which then forwards the messages on via text message. MRSEC is an acronym for Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers , funded by the United States National Science Foundation . Materials Research Science and Engineering Centers MRSECs support interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary materials research and education of the highest quality while addressing fundamental problems in science and engineering that are important to society. MRSECs require outstanding research quality, intellectual breadth, interdisciplinarity, flexibility in responding to new research opportunities, support for research infrastructure, and they foster the integration of research. MRSECs assess fundamental materials research topics of intellectual and technological importance, contribute to national priorities by fostering active collaboration between academia and other sectors, and enable researchers to address problems of a scope and complexity requiring the advantages of scale and interdisciplinarity provided by a campus based research center. The Materials Research Science and Engineering Center MRSEC at Columbia University The Columbia University Materials Research Science and Engineering Center MRSEC is an interdisciplinary team of university, industrial, and national laboratory scientists and engineers working together to develop and examine new types of nanocrystals and ways of assembling them into thin films. The MRSEC, initially established by the National Science Foundation NSF in 1998, was renewed by NSF in 2002 with a 7.2M grant covering 6 years. Faculty from six academic departments are involved with the MRSEC, along with faculty from the City College of New York CCNY . The center, entitled Center for Nanostructured Materials, now focuses on the synthesis of complex metal oxide nanocrystals and ways of assembling them into useful films. History The magazine was established in 1949 by several scientists, including Jos Reis , the dean of popularization of science in Brazil . He was its editor in chief for more than 30 years. Initially the magazine was conceived to be SBPC s flagship publication of original scientific articles, following the model of Science journal Science , published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science . The journal remained faithful to this concept until the 1990s, when it became clear that Brazilian scientists of high rank were not generally favouring the journal as a significant publication vehicle for their original research. Its editorial philosophy was then changed to a magazine of general debate on issues of science and technology. A brief attempt at publishing in English only was foiled and the magazine reverted to Portuguese as its publication language. Neuroergonomics is the application of neuroscience to ergonomics . Traditional ergonomic studies have relied largely on psychological explanations of issues of human factors , such as safety, response time, and repetitive stress injuries. Neuroergonomics, by contrast, relies on biological explanations. Neuroergonomics has two major aims to use existing and emerging knowledge of human performance and brain function to design such systems for safer and more efficient operation, and to advance understanding of human brain function in relation to cognitive processes and performance in real world tasks. To meet these goals, neuroergonomics combines two disciplines neuroscience, the study of brain function, and human factors, the study of how to match technology with the capabilities and limitations of people so they can work effectively and safely. The goal of merging these two fields is to use the startling discoveries of human brain and physiological functioning both to inform the design of technologies in the workplace and home, and to provide new training methods that enhance performance, expand capabilities, and optimize the fit between people and technology. Research in the area of neuroergonomics has blossomed in recent years with the emergence of noninvasive techniques for monitoring human brain function that can be used to study various aspects of human behavior in relation to technology and work, including mental workload, visual attention, working memory, motor control, human automation interaction, and adaptive automation. Consequently, this interdisciplinarity interdisciplinary field is concerned with investigations of the nervous system neural bases of human perception , cognition , and performance in relation to systems and technologies in the real life real world for example, in the use of computer s and various other machines at home or in the workplace, and in operating vehicles such as aircraft, cars, trains, and ships. It is an Interdisciplinarity interdisciplinary program which has relativity with electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering. Energy minimization is the purpose of this growing discipline. Often applied to building design, heavy consideration is given to HVAC , lighting , refrigeration , to both reduce energy loads and increase efficiency of current systems. Energy Engineering is increasingly seen as a major step forward in meeting Carbon neutrality carbon reduction targets . Energy Technology refers to the knowledge, skills, and equipment required for the production, conversion, transference, distribution, and utilization of energy. This leads to the mastering of technology based on the laws of nature, as a result of which different forms of energy can be used to serve the needs of mankind in such a way that nature is spared and the economic resources of society are taken into consideration.
