Unreferenced date October 2009 The Germanic Iron Age is the name given to the period 400 800 in Northern Europe and it is part of the continental Age of Migrations . Germanic Iron Age The Germanic Iron Age follows the Roman Iron Age and the beginning is marked by the fall of the Roman empire and the rise of the Germanic king doms in Western Europe. In Scandinavia , it is followed by the Viking Age . It is divided into the early Germanic Iron Age EGIA and the late Germanic Iron Age LGIA . In Sweden , the LGIA 550 800 is usually referred to as the Vendel era , in Norway, the Merovinger Merovingian Age. During the fall of the Roman empire, an abundance of gold flowed into Scandinavia and there are excellent works in gold from this period. Gold was used to make scabbard mountings and bracteate s. After the Roman empire had disappeared, gold became scarce and Scandinavians began to make objects of gilded bronze, with decorations of animal style interlacing animals in Scandinavian style. The EGIA decorations show animals that are rather faithful anatomically, but in the LGIA they evolve into intricate shapes with interlace visual arts interlacing and interwoven limbs that are well known from the Viking Age . The Rosemarkie Stone or Rosemarkie Cross , a Class II Pictish stones Pictish stone , is one of the major surviving examples of Pictish art in stone. Carved from fine grained sandstone , the Rosemarkie stone was found in the ancient churchyard of the village of Rosemarkie , probable site of a major Pictish monastery, on the Black Isle of Easter Ross and is now on display in Rosemarkie s Groam House Museum open in summer entrance charge . On the front side is an elaborately decorated cross, while on the reverse side are various common Pictish symbols, including three crescents with V rods and a double disc and Z rod, as well as a smaller cross at the bottom. It is the only Pictish stone to bear three versions of the same symbol. The sides are also decorated with a number of interlace patterns. A progressive scan DVD player is a DVD player that can output video in a progressive scan format such as 480p NTSC or 576p PAL . Players which can output resolutions higher than 480p or 576p are often called upconverting DVD players. Before High definition television HDTV s became common, players were sold which could output 480p or 576p. TVs with this feature were often in the upper price range of a manufacturer s line. To utilize this feature, a TV or other display with a progressive scan input was needed. HDTVs usually have a progressive scan input progressive scan inputs are less common on standard definition TVs often called SDTVs. Capsule labeled at center left. Precursor System Artery Vein Nerve Lymph MeshName MeshNumber The lymph node capsule is composed of dense irregular connective tissue with some plain muscle fibers, and from its internal surface are given off a number of membranous processes or trabecul , consisting, in man, of connective tissue, with a small admixture of plain muscle fibers but in many of the lower animals composed almost entirely of involuntary muscle . They pass inward, radiating toward the center of the gland, for a certain distance that is to say, for about one third or one fourth of the space between the circumference and the center of the gland. In some animals they are sufficiently well marked to divide the peripheral or cortical portion of the gland into a number of compartments so called follicles , but in man this arrangement is not obvious. The larger trabecul springing from the capsule break up into finer bands, and these interlace to form a mesh work in the central or medullary portion of the gland. In these spaces formed by the interlacing trabecul is contained the proper gland substance or lymphoid tissue. The gland pulp does not, however, completely fill the spaces, but leaves, between its outer margin and the enclosing trabecul , a channel or space of uniform width throughout. This is termed the lymph path or lymph sinus. Running across it are a number of finer trabecul of retiform connective tissue, the fibers of which are, for the most part, covered by ramifying cells. A mode line may also refer to a line in the Emacs editor that provides information about the buffer and modes. A modeline is a configuration line in xorg.conf or the XFree86 configuration file XF86Config that provides information to the X server about a connected computer monitor or television and how to drive it at a specified display resolution . The Modeline is based on the Generalized Timing Formula or the Coordinated Video Timings standards produced by VESA . Modelines are now all but unused, but XFree86 and the Xorg Server still allow them to be set should the EDID information be inadequate. Other uses2 Interlace This article is in US English Interlaced video is a technique of doubling the perceived frame rate introduced with the composite video signal used with analog television without consuming extra Bandwidth signal processing bandwidth . Since the interlaced signal contains the two field video field s of a video frame captured at two different times, it enhances motion perception to the viewer and reduces flicker screen flicker by taking advantage of the persistence of vision effect. This results in an effective doubling of time resolution also called temporal resolution as compared with non interlaced footage for frame rates equal to field rates .
