The InternationalWomen s Writing Guild , founded in 1976 by Hannelore Hahn , is a non profit network for the personal and professional empowerment of women through writing. Begun as a small support group, today the IWWG is an official Non Governmental Organization NGO with consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council and has thousands of members worldwide. The IWWG is fiscally managed by the New York Foundation for the Arts . The IWWG sponsors an annual week long writing conference which draws an average of 500 participants for women writers every summer, as well as a variety of regional events throughout the year. Regional Representatives volunteer time to organize round table discussions in their local areas and offer mentoring to other writers.
