Orphan date October 2008 The process of Lenin Enrolment 1923 25 was a process in which there was a concerted drive to get more of the proletariat and workers into the Communist party , and become active in party affairs. This process started firstly as a means of social cohesion, but the rules of admission were virtually abandoned and 128,000 people were signed up within the three months prior to the pivotal 13th party Congress. Supporters of Leon Trotsky claim that Joseph Stalin used Lenin Enrolment for his own personal gain by placing his supporters in places of political power. for the engagement of Scottish Covenanters with Charles I of 1647 Engagers The Engagement Controversy was a debate in England from 1649 1652 regarding loyalty to the English Interregnum new regime after the execution of Charles I of England Charles I . During this period hundreds of pamphlets were published in England supporting engagement to the new regime or denying the right of English citizens to shift their allegiance from the deposed king to Oliver Cromwell and his associates. In 1650 the statement of engagement took the form I do declare and promise, that I will be true and faithful to the Commonwealth of England , as it is now established, without a King or House of Lords . ref Glenn Burgess. Usurpation, Obligation, and Obedience in the Thought of the Engagement Controversy. The Historical Journal. Vol. 29, No. 3 Sept., 1986 , pp. 515 536. ref Participants in the debate are generally regarded either as de facto theorists or royalists. De facto theorists advocated loyalty to any government capable of taking power and maintaining internal peace and order. They argued that unless people are willing to accept any government that can protect them, mankind will be doomed to perpetual civil war. Most royalists argued that the people of England were already engaged to the King, and could not change their loyalties. References references Edward Vallance. The Ottoman Venetian maritime treaty of 1416 was signed between Ottoman Empire and Republic of Venice , ending a short conflict between the two powers and stipulating the rules of maritime trade between them. Background After the collapse of the Great Seljuq Empire Seljuk Sultanate of Rum , four Anatolian beyliks in west Anatolia namely Karasids Karasi , Aydinids Aydin and Mentese had become minor sea powers in the Aegean Sea in the early 14th century. However, towards the end of that century, they were annexed by the rising Ottoman Empire. The Ottomans commandeered their fleets and enrolled their captains. With this enlarged navy, the Ottomans proved to be a serious threat to Venetian domination in the Aegean. Although the three of the beyliks regained their independence during Temur s campaign for a brief duration, they weren t able to acquire their past fleets. In 1415 , shortly after Ottoman Interregnum Ottoman interregnum , Venice sent 10 galleys to the Sea of Marmara , under the command of Pietro Loredan , to check the Ottoman fleet. With some reinforcements from the Aegean islands most of which were dominions of Venice this fleet began controlling Marmara. In a clash on 14 May 1416 , the Venician fleet defeated the Ottoman fleet, killing its admiral al Bey . Loredan then also tried to capture the Ottoman port of Lapseki , but this time he was repelled and forced to withdraw. ref Prof.Dr.Ya ar Y cel Prof.Dr.Ali Sevim T rkiye Tarihi II , AKDTYK yay nlar , stanbul,1990, p. 80 81 ref Treaty Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Palaeologus volunteered to be the mediator, and the two sides agreed on the following Prisoners of war were released.
