Biography Schmidt studied music at the conservatorium in Dortmund , at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen , the Mozarteum University of Salzburg Mozarteum in Salzburg , and he studied Musical composition composition in Karlheinz Stockhausen s Cologne Courses for New Music at the Rheinische Musikschule, Cologne . He started work mainly as a Conducting conductor and performed in concert s with the Bochum Symphony, the Vienna Symphony and the Dortmund Musical ensemble Ensemble for New Music, which he founded in 1962. During this time he received several conducting awards. Schmidt also worked as Kapellmeister at the Theater Aachen , as docent for Musical theatre and chanson at the Drama school de Schauspielschule Bochum Bochum , and as concert pianist. Michael Karoli 29 April 1948  17 November 2001 was a Germany German guitarist , violin ist and composer. He was a founding member of the influential krautrock band Can band Can . Michael Karoli was born and grew up in Straubing , Bavaria , moving to St. Gallen , Switzerland by the time he finished school. He learned to play the guitar , violin and cello as a child, and played in numerous jazz and dance bands. In 1966, he met and befriended Holger Czukay , who was his guitar teacher for a while. After he graduated he began studies of the law until leaving in 1968 to form Can band Can with Czukay, Irmin Schmidt , Jaki Liebezeit , and David C. Johnson David Johnson . His main role was that of the guitarist, with occasional uncredited violin performances, and later also providing vocals. He was a constant member of the band, playing with it between 1968 and its break up in 1979. He also joined the band for its two reunions, in 1986 and 1991. Karoli died in 2001 in Essen , Germany after a long battle with cancer , aged 53. J rgen Schmitt alias Schmitti born 5 November 1949 in Bonn is a German Painting painter , photographer , and as Schmitti , a composer , lyricist and Schlager singer. He lives and works in the village of Scheven population ca. 560 Kall, North Rhine Westphalia and there he has his studios. Schmitt studied from 1970 to 1976 at the Art Academy in D sseldorf under Professor Joseph Beuys and Professor Irmin Kamp and he was appointed in 1975 for his artistic achievements Meister Sch ler . Biography Manfredo Fest was of German descent his father was a concert pianist from Germany who taught at University in Porto Alegre. Although he was blind, Fest learned to read music in Braille . His initial musical training had been classical, but at 17 years old, he became interested in the jazz works of George Shearing and Bill Evans . At college he gained steady work playing bossa nova in S o Paulo . In 1961, Fest graduated in piano from the University of Rio Grande do Sul. He also learned to play keyboards and saxophone. One year later, he started his musical career playing in bars, clubs and pubs. In 1963, he recorded his first LP, called Bossa nova, nova bossa . In this album, he counted with Humberto Clayber bass , Antonio Pinheiro drums and Hector Costita saxophone and flute . In the 1970s he traveled to the United States where he worked with S rgio Mendes . His American debut album Jungle Cat was released in 1978. He was relatively obscure, but worked with noteworthy groups including B la Fleck and the Flecktones . In 1999, Fest died after a period in coma.
