In United States legal education, an accelerated JD program is a program in which students combine certain requirements of a bachelor s degree usually a bachelor of arts BA with the requirements of the juris doctor degree. Students thus usually receive their bachelor s degree after completing the first year of law school. Typically, students complete the two degrees in six years rather than the usual seven. These programs are also often referred to as BA to JD programs or three plus three programs . There are also two year accelerated JD programs that are offered independently of a bachelor s degree. The undergraduate college and law school may either be independent institutions, or part of a single large university. Accelerated JD programs differ from most dual degree programs in that the degrees are of different levels, and are obtained sequentially rather than concurrently. Requirements for admission of undergraduates to such programs are typically higher than for general enrollment. Some programs further restrict enrollment to students in a specific prelaw major. Frank John Dixie Barnjum April 26, 1858 &ndash February 18, 1933 was a merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia , Canada. He represented Queens County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1925 to 1926 as a Conservative Party of Nova Scotia Conservative member. Biography He was born in Montreal , Quebec , the son of Francis Barnum and Leonora Pryor. Barnjum married Bertha L. Clement. He was extensively involved in lumbering in Nova Scotia and became a millionaire. Barnjum, a proponent of forest conservation and reforestation known as the Canadian Forestry Crusader , opposed the export of pulpwood to the United States . However, an embargo on exports of pulpwood would also benefit Barnjum s business interests.
