His first manager was Harry Burns, but in 1910, ex boxing champion Tommy Burns boxer Tommy Burns took Lester on. Tommy Burns sent Lester to Australia in 1911 to gain fight experience, and in September that year he beat Bill Lang , the Australian heavyweight champion, by points. While in Australia Lester and Burns s relationship became strained and Lester dropped Burns for Hugh MacIntosh. Lester spent the entirety of 1912 in Australia, but by March 1913 Lester was back in the States and fighting in California . Born in Alabama , King began his animation career in the silent era in 1920 working at Bray Productions animation studio. King successfully made the transformation from silent to sound cartoons and relocated to the west coast where he joined the Disney studio in 1929. In 1933, he moved to the newly formed Warner Bros. Cartoons Leon Schlesinger Productions which made Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies for Warner Bros. , initially working as an animator under director Earl Duvall . A year later, Duvall was fired in the wake of an alcohol fuelled argument with Schlesinger, and King was promoted to director, handling many of the studio s cartoons starring Buddy Looney Tunes Buddy . After two years working at the Schlesinger studio, King was invited back to Disney, and he returned there in late 1936. Part of the reason why he went back to Disney was the promise that he would be able to direct cartoons in color, which he had been unable to do previously Friz Freleng and Tex Avery were the only directors that Schlesinger allowed to use color for much of the 1930s . Serving as one of Disney s key animation directors, he directed many classic Donald Duck cartoons such as Donald s Dilemma until his retirement in 1948. Upon his graduation from East High School Rochester, New York East High School in Rochester, New York Rochester , New York , in 1923, Harrison began playing, coaching, and organizing semi professional basketball, working for the Rochester Seagrams and later the Rochester Ebers . In 1945, with his brother Joseph Jack , Harrison founded his own semi pro team, the Rochester Pros in 1946, the franchise changed its name to Rochester Royals Royals and began play in the National Basketball League United States National Basketball League NBL . Harrison coached the NBL iteration of his team for three years, leading the Royals to three straight NBL finals of which the team won one, over the Sheboygan Red Skins in 1946 and amassing a record of 99 wins and 43 losses.
