    Jacobo Arbenz Vilanova born 13 November 1946 is a Politics of Guatemala politician in Guatemala . He is the son of former progressive President of Guatemala Guatemalan President Jacobo Arbenz Guzm n , who was overthrown in a CIA sponsored coup d tat in 1954. Arbenz Vilanova fled the country following the ouster of his father s government and spent almost 50 years in exile &ndash in Mexico , Switzerland , Uruguay , and El Salvador , but mostly in Costa Rica &ndash before deciding to return during the administration of Alfonso Portillo . After unsuccessfully trying to form his own political party to fight the Guatemala election, 2003 2003 presidential election , he was accepted as the candidate of the Guatemalan Christian Democracy Christian Democracy party DCG after two earlier DCG presidential candidates withdrew. The DCG ticket, comprising Arbenz Vilanova and vice presidential running mate Mario Rolando Castro de Le n , was placed eighth, with 1.6 of the total vote. Arbenz Vilanova graduated in business management in El Salvador and, prior to returning from exile and entering politics, had owned and run a coffee plantation, a livestock farm, and a company dedicated to non traditional exports.     The ArBenz was an automobile manufactured in Ohio from 1911 until approximately 1918. Fred Arbenz and Nand Arbenz father and son, respectively formed the Scioto Car Company in 1911, named for the Scioto River flowing through Chillicothe, Ohio , where the car was made. It was manufactured in the factory of the former family furniture business. The name was changed to ArBenz in 1912. The capitalization was to suggest association with the Blitzen Benz . Fred was president and Nand was the designer for the company. C.O. Snyder was hired as chief designer shortly thereafter. The cars produced by the company were all four cylinder s and usually in the mid price category. A variety of touring car s and Roadster automobile roadster s were produced. The 1916 model was significantly smaller both in size and price than previous models. In March 1916, ArBenz was taken over by the National United Service Company , which was acquiring automotive brands for yet another attempt to take on General Motors . Despite his wealth, he was a known benefactor who built roads that connected his own town with other local villages. Military career In 1913, he enrolled as a physician and then as a soldier for Victoriano Huerta s army. As a close friend of Juan Andrew Almaz n , Harrotian was chosen to command a legion of 2,000 soldiers who fought in the Battle of Zacatecas against Pancho Villa s forces on June 23, 1914. Late life and exile Shortly after the fall of Victoriano Huerta s de facto government, Harrotian was persecuted by the new authorities and chose to leave the country. After several difficulties, he settled in the Dominican Republic , where he died. Legacy Once the Mexican Revolution came to an end, the Partido Revolucionario Institucional socialist government deprived him and his family of their properties. His former house is now the Ayuntamiento Town Hall of his homeplace, Zumpango del R o .
