  1. James Cooley Fletcher

    James Cooley Fletcher 1823 in Indianapolis 1901 was a Presbyterian Minister Christianity minister and missionary with strong activities in Brazilian lands. Fletcher was the son of Calvin Fletcher , a banker and one of the first settlers of Indiana . James Cooley Fletcher graduated from Brown University in 1846, and studied theology for two years in the Princeton Theological Seminary under Charles Hodge . His studies were completed in Europe, as he sought to improve his French in order to become a missionary in Haiti . In that period, he married a daughter of C sar Malan , a minister from Geneva . He went back to the USA in 1850, when his daughter Julia Constance Fletcher was born. In the next year, he went to Rio de Janeiro at that time the capital of Brazil as an agent of both the American Christian Union and American Seamen s Friend Society in a mission which endured until 1854. The American Christian Union worked together with the American Bible Society and the American Tract Society . Both of them also supported Fletcher years later. In 1855 and 1856, Fletcher was back in Brazil, this time as an agent of the American Sunday School Union . During this trip he traveled more than 5,000 kilometers through Brazil, giving out Bible s.     Noble & Cooley is a drum manufacturing company based out of Granville, Massachusetts , mainly known for its snare drums. History The company has been in operation since 1854, when Silas Noble and James Cooley starting building marching snare drum s for the Union Army . The company also made toy drum set s for children through most of the 1900s. In the early 1980s, company vice president Jay Jones Great great great grandson of James Cooley decided to enter the professional drum arena. He worked closely with designer Bob Gatzen and pulled out of retirement a steam bending machine that was old enough to have survived a fire in 1889. Noble & Cooley first offered its SS Classic solid shell snare drums in 1983. Since then, the company has created many other professional wood and metal snare drums and complete drum set s. In 1989, and again in 2003, Noble & Cooley teamed up with Zildjian to create snare drums made out of cymbal alloy. These drums were made in very limited quantities and are some of the most collectible drums on the market today. Current products CD Maples These are a set of custom designed drums hence the CD made to order. Drums in this series are made to individual requirements and the customer has some input in deciding what sizes of drums and hoops are to be used.     Joe Cooley 1924&ndash December 20, 1973 was an Ireland Irish musician known for his traditional accordion music. Cooley was born in Peterswell, County Galway in 1924. Both his parents were Diatonic button accordion melodeon players, and Joe began playing accordion at age 10. As a teen, Joe played in the Midlands area and eventually found himself in Dublin in 1945, where he joined the Galway Rovers Band.
