  1. Java Virtual Machine Tools Interface

Java Virtual Machine Tool Interface JVMTI, or more properly, JVM TI was introduced in Java Platform, Standard Edition J2SE 5.0 Tiger . This Interface computer science interface allows a computer program program to inspect the state and to control the execution of applications running in the Java Virtual Machine JVM . JVMTI is designed to provide an Application Programming Interface API for the development of tools that need access to the state of the JVM. Examples for such tools are debugger s or profiler computer science profiler s. The JVMTI is a native interface of the JVM. A library, written in C programming language C or C , is loaded during the initialization of the JVM. The library has access to the JVM state by calling JVMTI and JNI Java Native Interface functions and can register to receive JVMTI events using event handler functions that are called by the JVM when such an event occurs. JVMTI was defined through the Java Community Process by JSR 163. The JVMTI replaces the JVMPI Java Virtual Machine Profiling Interface and the JVMDI Java Virtual Machine Debug Interface . The JVMPI and the JVMDI are declared as being deprecated in J2SE 5.0 and were removed in Java SE6. JVMTI is the lowest level of the Java Platform Debugger Architecture . 1. Ddoc

Ddoc is the Documentation generator embedded documentation generator for the D programming language designed by Walter Bright . Its emphasis is on being able to write documentation in code comments in a natural style, minimizing the need for embedded markup and thus improving the legibility of the code comments. It is similar in concept to Doxygen and Javadoc . Code comments are associated with symbols in the code, and Ddoc uses the semantic and syntactic information available from the D compiler to fill in routine information such as parameters and return types automatically. The code comments and symbol table information are processed by Ddoc into an internal structured format. Each of these structures corresponds to a template expressed as a Macro computer science macro . The template macros convert the structured format into another set of macros that express the markup. The latter set of markup macros are expanded to produce, by default, HTML . Both the template macros and the markup macros can be overridden by the user, and can be applied via external files analogous to HTML style sheets. The template macros can be changed to customize the high level formatting, and the markup macros can be altered to produce other output forms such as XML and XHTML . 1. Marker interface pattern

Unreferenced date June 2007 The marker interface pattern is a design pattern computer science design pattern in computer science , used with languages that provide run time type information about objects. It provides a means to associate metadata with a class where the language does not have explicit support for such metadata. To use this pattern, a Class computer science class implements a marker interface , and methods that interact with instances of that class test for the existence of the interface. Whereas a typical interface computer science interface specifies functionality in the form of method declarations that an implementing class must support, a marker interface need not do so. The mere presence of such an interface indicates specific behavior on the part of the implementing class. Hybrid interfaces, which both act as markers and specify required methods, are possible but may prove confusing if improperly used. An example of the application of marker interfaces from the Java programming language Java programming language is the Javadoc SE java io Serializable interface. A class implements this interface to indicate that its non Transient computer programming transient data members can be written to an Javadoc SE java io ObjectOutputStream . The code ObjectOutputStream code private method code writeObject code contains a series of code instanceof code tests to determine writeability, one of which looks for the code Serializable code interface. If any of these tests fails, the method throws a code NotSerializableException code . Critique A major problem with marker interfaces is that an interface defines a contract for implementing classes, and that contract is inherited by all subclasses. This means that you cannot unimplement a marker. In the example given, if you create a subclass that you do not want to serialize perhaps because it depends on transient state , you must resort to explicitly throwing code NotSerializableException code per code ObjectOutp ...   more details

  1. Java API for XML Web Services

The Java API for XML Web Services JAX WS is a Java programming language Java programming language Application programming interface API for creating web service s. It is part of the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition Java EE platform from Sun Microsystems . Like the other Java EE APIs, JAX WS uses Java annotation annotation s, introduced in Java Platform, Standard Edition Java SE 5 , to simplify the development and deployment of web service clients and endpoints. It is part of the Java Web Services Development Pack . The Reference implementation computing Reference Implementation of JAX WS is developed as an open source project and is part of project GlassFish , an open source Java EE application server. It is called JAX WS RI For Reference Implementation and is said to be production quality implementation contrary to the former Reference Implementation being a proof of concept . This Reference Implementation is now part of the GlassFish Metro Metro distribution http weblogs.java.net blog kohsuke archive 2007 06 introducing met.html . JAX WS also is one of the foundations of Web Services Interoperability Technology WSIT . Name change JAX WS 2.0 replaced the JAX RPC API in Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5.
