He was born in New Haven, Connecticut , the son of a clockmaker and engraver . He trained as a watchmaker , later taking up drawing, engraving, and oil painting . He studied engraving with George Munger artist George Munger around 1813 they published at least one print together under the name Jocelin & Munger. From 1820 to 1822 he was in Savannah, Georgia , and established himself as a portrait painter on his return to New Haven. He had a portrait studio in New York City from 1843 to 1847. His New Haven studio burned in 1849, and he gave up painting for engraving, initially with the firm of Toppan, Carpenter & Co. He went on to found the National Bank Note Engraving Company. In 1984, he joined the Malm Ballet, as ballet master under director Elsa Marianne von Rosen . While there, he created two 2 ballets Delibes Suite and Samson and Dalila . He also served briefly with Ballet de France and Ballet du Lourve . In 1988, he joined the National Ballet of Finland with Director Doris Laine , and then worked between 1991 and 1998 in Deutsche Opera Rhein in D sseldorf with Heinz Sp rli and Yuri Vamos . Jocelyn Bjorn Lovell born July 19, 1950 in Norwich , Norfolk , England is a former cyclist from Canada. Lovell dominated Canadian cycling in the 1960s and 1970s winning dozens of national titles as well as gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games . He brought Canadian cycling back into the international limelight. His greatest success came at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton where he won three gold medals in Games record times. Later that year he won a silver medal at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships world championships . He is now a quadriplegic, having been injured in an incident involving a dump truck while training on the road. He accuses doctors of doing too little to cure paralysis. Lovell was married to speed skater Sylvia Burka .
