Son of Friedrich Benjamin Osiander 1759 1822 . In 1808 he received his medical doctorate, and embarked on an educational journey that took him to the University of T bingen and the University of Paris , where he studied with Jean Louis Baudelocque 1745 1810 . In 1810 he returned to G ttingen, where in worked in the field of urology and was appointed assessor of the Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Under the influence of JohannFriedrichBlumenbach 1752 1840 , he developed an interest in natural history and comparative anatomy , becoming an assistant at the Natural History Cabinet. In 1811 he became a privat docent at G ttingen, also working as a general practitioner and obstetrician, and in 1815 was appointed an associate professor of medicine. In 1817 he traveled to Vienna, where he met with Johann Lukas Bo r 1751 1835 , afterwards visiting Berlin , Jena and Halle an der Saale Halle Saale . In 1822 he became his father s representative in G ttingen as director of the maternity hospital . Born in Hamburg , he studied at several universities and travelled in England, France and Italy . In 1643, he was appointed professor of rhetoric and history at Deventer , and in 1658 to the Greek language Greek chair at University of Leiden Leiden , where he remained until his death. In 1665, Gronovius succeeded Antonius Thysius the Younger as the Leiden University Library 6th Librarian of Leiden University see also Raffaello Fabretti . Gronovius edited and annotated Statius , Plautus , Livy , Gaius Cornelius Tacitus Tacitus , Aulus Gellius and Lucius Annaeus Seneca Seneca s tragedies. Biography Cronegk studied law in Halle and Leipzig and visited Italy and France before returning to his hometown to be a court councilor. JohannFriedrich Alberti 11 January 1642, T nning , Schleswig &ndash 14 June 1710, Merseburg , Saxony Anhalt was a German composer and organist. He received his musical training in Leipzig from Werner Fabricius and in Dresden from Vincenzo Albrici . Then he worked as an organist in Merseburg cathedral until his departure in 1698 caused by the paralysis of his right hand because of a stroke . His pupil Georg Friedrich Kauffmann succeeded him as a princely Saxon townsman and cathedral organist at the court of the Saxon duke and Merseburg Cathedral. His name survives today because of his preference of writing left hand parts to be played in consecutive notes, rather than as block chords, which is still known to musicians as an Alberti Bass . Alberti s works include chorale preludes, 35 choral arrangements, 12 ricercati lost and various sacred works. JohannFriedrich Adam , later called Michael Friedrich Adams 1780, Moscow 1 March 1838, Vereya was a botanist from Saint Petersburg St. Petersburg , Russia . He studied from 1795 1796 in the medical school of Saint Petersburg St. Petersburg . In the years 1800 1802 he traveled across Transcaucasia in the entourage of Count Apollo Mussin Pushkin 1760 1805 . In 1805, he was part of a scientific team attached to the unsuccessful diplomatic mission of Count Yury Golovkin to China . After the failure of the mission, he and many of the other scientists stayed on in Siberia to pursue their researches. In 1806, while in Yakutsk , he heard about an intact woolly mammoth carcass near the mouth of the Lena River . He hastily arranged an expedition to the location where he was able to recover most of the skeleton, skin, and almost forty pounds of hair. At the time, and for almost a century after, this was the most complete mammoth known. He returned to St. Petersburg with his prize. The skeleton is now on display at The Museum of Zoology in Saint Petersburg, where it is known as the Adams mammoth .
