The son of James Fenton, Edinburgh, and Elizabeth Jack, he was educated at George Watson s College , Edinburgh, at Edinburgh University and at the Sorbonne He was admitted as a member of the Faculty of Advocates in 1904. After service in World War I , he was appointed a King s Counsel in 1923 and was briefly Solicitor General for Scotland in the Labour Government 1924 Labour Government of 1924 . He was later Sheriff of Fife and Kinross from 1926 1937, of Stirling, Dumbarton, and Clackmannan from 1937 1942 and of the Lothians and Peebles and Sheriff of Chancery in Scotland from 1942. He was knighted in 1945.   1. Charles John Brydges

    Charles John Brydges was born in London, England , on 23 February 1827, the son of Thomas and Mary Brydges. He was baptized 30 May 1827 at Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, London, England. As a young man he learned railway management with the London and South Western Railway . In 1852 he came to Canada to become the managing director of the Great Western Railroad which was incorporated to build a line from Burlington Bay to Lake Huron. From 1862 to 1874 he was general manager of the competing Grand Trunk Railway . Afterwards he became one of the Commissioners of the Intercolonial Railway which connected Montreal, Quebec with City of Halifax Halifax, Nova Scotia . From 1879 until his death he was a Land Commissioner for the Hudson s Bay Company in Winnipeg. He died in Winnipeg on 16 February 1889.     The John Charles Walters Company was a production company formed in 1978 by four former employees of MTM Enterprises James L. Brooks , David Davis writer David Davis , Stan Daniels and Ed Weinberger . The company existed from 1978 until 1983 and produced the TV show Taxi TV series Taxi . The foursome who created John Charles Walters were part of the creative team that produced The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff Phyllis TV series Phyllis , as well as The Betty White Show among others, during the 1970s. They were lured away by Paramount Pictures Paramount following the end of The Mary Tyler Moore Show s run. Paramount financed the John Charles Walters Company during its existence. The company also produced The Associates U.S. TV series The Associates , a TV sitcom about a small group of young Wall Street lawyers which ran during the 1979 television season starring Martin Short . The show lasted for nine of the 13 episodes produced, but received two Golden Globe nominations after its cancellation. Company name According to a 2003 interview, James L. St. John and his wife Lois Bacon the youngest of a family of four sons and two daughters. In 1873 he entered Michigan Normal College , then graduated at the age of 19. For the next ten years he suffered from ill health. After recovering, he became a teacher at the college, and in 1887 he graduated with a B.S. from Michigan State Agricultural College . He performed two years of graduate study in electromagnetism at the University of Michigan , then earned an M.A. from Harvard University in 1893. He was awarded a John Tyndall Fellowship and studied for a year in Berlin before returning to earn his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1896. After teaching for a year at the University of Michigan, he became an associate professor of physics at Oberlin College . He made professor in 1899 and became Dean of the College of Arts and Science in 1907. In May 1908 at the age of 51 he joined the staff at Mount Wilson Observatory . There he studied the Sun , observing sun spots , the structure of the solar atmosphere, examined the Sun s Chemical element element composition using spectroscopy , and so forth. Born at Mount Hope, New York , St. John attended the common schools and Goshen and Newburgh New York Academies. He engaged in lumbering on the Delaware River and in mercantile pursuits and banking at Port Jervis, New York . He served as internal revenue collector and later as president of the Barrett Bridge Co.. St. John was elected as a Republican Party United States Republican to the 42nd United States Congress Forty second and 43rd United States Congress Forty third Congresses March 4, 1871 March 3, 1875 . His father, Lieutenant G.W. Melliss, was an officer of the St Helena Artillery. After training as an engineer, and serving as an officer in the Royal Engineers , he was appointed as government surveyor in St Helena from 1860 1871. In 1871, because of government cutbacks, he was made redundant and returned to London, where he subsequently formed the firm of J.C. Melliss and Co. Biography Pritz was part of the First Division, also called Divisi n Bloqueo , of the Brazilian navy operating in the waters of the Rio de la Plata during the Cisplatine War. The mission of this squadron, initially commanded by James Norton but eventually taken over by Pritz, was to blockade the primary Argentine port of Buenos Aires . Although the squadron had superior resources compared to the Argentine navy, commanded by William Brown admiral William Brown , it was unable to stop the Argentines from routinely escaping. While in command of the frigate Dona Paula , Pritz participated in the naval battles of Los Pozos on June 11, 1826 and of Quilmes on June 30, 1826. On April 8, 1827, Pritz by that time a comodore was one of the participants in the Battle of Monte Santiago, in which the superior firepower of the Brazilians forced two grounded Argentine brigs to rely on the support of a schooner.
