Cor van Hout August 18, 1957, Amsterdam , January 24, 2003, Amstelveen was a Dutch criminal . He was the main brain behind the kidnapping of beer magnate Freddy Heineken . Life Kidnapping and imprisonment During the abduction, Van Hout collaborated with Willem Holleeder , Frans Meijer and Jan Boellaard . The four men abducted Heineken and his driver in front of Heineken s office on November 9, 1983, after which they imprisoned the two men for a period of three weeks in a Quonset hut in Westpoort , a part of Amsterdam, asking a ransom for Heineken of 35 million guilder s. After the release of the hostages on November 30, Van Hout and Holleeder managed to escape. They both fled to Paris . However, the two men were arrested by the French police on February 29, 1984. They did not agree with their extradition to the Netherlands and were at first Grounding punishment grounded in a hotel on December 6, 1985, before being transferred on February 13, 1986 first to Guadeloupe , then to Saint Barth lemy , then to the French part of Sint Maarten , then to le Tintamarre , then again to Guadeloupe. He studied piano with Egbert Veen and Ulferts Schults , and composition and conducting under Sem Dresden . In 1932 he graduated with highest honours, playing a piano concerto written by himself. After becoming a soloist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Concertgebouw Orchestra , he won the fifth prize at the 1936 international contest for pianists in Vienna . He played all over the world and his recordings are often considered as musical treasures . He was a member of the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition s jury in 1956. In 1959 a nervous disorder developed in his right hand but he continued playing repertoire for the left hand. He arranged more than 80 pieces for the left hand. Slowly he regained power over his right hand. He became musical director of the Dutch Broadcasting Foundation and promoted Dutch contemporary music. He made many recordings but also continued composing. His compositions include music for piano solo such as Variations imaginaires 1967 orchestral music vocal work and chamber music such as Sonatine pastorale for oboe and piano 1961 .
