JohnGordon Privy Council of Ireland PC 23 November 1849 &ndash 26 September 1922 was an Ireland Irish lawyer and politician, who served as Attorney General for Ireland and a Judge of the High Court. Gordon was the son of Samuel Gordon, of Shankhill, County Down . He was educated at National University of Ireland, Galway Queen s College Galway , a constituent college of the Queen s University of Ireland, graduating with a B.A. degree in 1873, and LL.B. in 1876. He served as auditor of the college s Literary & Debating Society Literary and Debating Society for the 1873 1874 session. He was awarded an L.L.D. honoris causa on the dissolution of the Queen s University in 1882. He was called to the Irish Bar by the King s Inns in 1877. Gordon was elected a Member of Parliament for the South Londonderry UK Parliament constituency South Londonderry constituency in 1900, as a representative of the Liberal Unionist interest, and served in the British House of Commons House of Commons until 1916. In June 1915, he was appointed Attorney General for Ireland , an office he held until April 1916, when he was appointed a judge of the King s Bench division of the High Court of Ireland. He also became a member of the Irish Privy Council in 1915. He married Dorothy Clay in 1887. He died in Dublin on 26 September 1922, having been taken ill in a tram on his journey home from the Four Courts . Maurice Healy, who vividly described many of the Irish judges of his youth in The Old Munster Circuit confessed that Gordon had made almost no impression on him except a refusal to wear bright colours. JohnGordon Smith 1792 1833 was a Scottish surgeon and early professor of medical jurisprudence . Life He was educated at Edinburgh and graduated in the university in 1810 with the highest honours in medicine. He entered the army as a surgeon, and was attached to the 12th Lancers at the battle of Waterloo , where he treated their commanding officer Frederick Cavendish Ponsonby . Smith retired from the army on half pay when peace was concluded in 1815, and settled in London. Here he found it difficult to establish himself in practice, as he held a Scottish degree only, and was therefore not entitled to practise in England. He accepted the appointment of physician to the George Leveson Gower, 1st Duke of Sutherland Duke of Sutherland Marquess of Stafford , and resided with him for four years, writing on forensic medicine . At the same time he acted as surgeon to the Royal Westminster Ophthalmic Hospital . He also lectured on medical jurisprudence at the Royal Institution of Great Britain in 1825 and again in 1826, and at the Mechanics Institute and in 1829 he was elected the first professor of medical jurisprudence at the University College London London University in Gower Street. None of the licensing bodies in London required any evidence of instruction in forensic medicine, and there was consequently no class. Smith lectured for two years, and then resigned his office. ST Gordon born April 18, 1959 in Pasco, WA was an United States American professional boxer who won the World Boxing Council Cruiserweight boxing cruiserweight title in 1982. Professional career Gordon became a professional boxer in 1977. He faced undefeated heavyweight prospect Gerry Cooney in 1978 but lost via a fourth round disqualification. In 1981 he beat aging contender Yaqui Lopez for the North American Boxing Federation cruiserweight title. The next year he won the WBC cruiserweight title with a technical knockout victory over Carlos De Le n .
