He competed in 19 Nextel Cup events in his career. Cup Series Career Kennedy started in 1969, when he ran eight races in his own car. He debuted at North Carolina Speedway , where he started 43rd in the forty three car field and finished there following an early engine failure. Kennedy would struggle for the rest of the year, only earning two top twenties. The better of them was a 14th at Atlanta Motor Speedway Atlanta and then a 15th at Lowe s Motor Speedway Charlotte . With five DNFs in eight starts, Kennedy had to settle for 49th in points. Kennedy returned for one race in 1977, running his own car at Michigan International Speedway Michigan . After starting 31st in the race, Kennedy would fall to 33rd after an engine failure. Kennedy was back in 1978, running five more races for his team. It was a struggle to say the best. He got a best finish of just 27th at North Wilkesboro Speedway and then a pair of twenty ninths. He did not finish any of the races, and in fact, at Atlanta, Kennedy s car broke before the start of the race and was credited with last place. Kennedy closed his career with five more starts in 1979, having his best season in a decade. He had a best finish of 15th at Michigan and was 18th at the other Michigan race. He also was able to finish three races on the year, the first time since 1969 that Kennedy finished a race. Following a 23rd at North Carolina Speedway , Kennedy has not competed in a NASCAR event.     John Kennedy , Jr. Oct. 12, 1847 was the bishop of the Argyle Ward in Argyle, Utah during its entire existence, a member of the Utah State Legislature, the Rich County, Utah Rich County Commission and a justice of the peace. Kennedy was born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland to John Kennedy and his wife, the former Elizabeth Black. In the 1860s he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints along with the rest of his family and in 1870 sailed to America on the ship Colorado with his brother James. The Kennedy brother worked as coal miners in Pennsylvania and then in Almy, Wyoming . Soon after arriving in Almy Kennedy married Hannah Simpson. John and Hannah became the parents of 16 children. Kennedy later moved to Argyle, Utah where he worked as a farmer and rancher. He served as bishop of the Argyle ward from its organization in 1895 until it was merged with the Randolph Ward in 1913. He was born in Quebec , of a French Canadian mother and an Irish people Irish engineer father. His work included a commentator on the program The Magic Key which ran from 1934 to 1939. He often hosted the People s Rally , which was an influential current affairs program that featured prominent spokespersons for both pro and con arguments of the day. His first radio stint took place in 1924, on WABC AM WJZ , when he was 30 and associate editor of Collier s Weekly Collier s . Biography He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 9, 1803. His father was a native of Ireland who became a teacher in Baltimore. John moved to New York City and worked with his brother. In 1849 he was appointed a commissioner of emigration, and in 1854 he was elected a member of the common council. Citation needed date May 2011 He was appointed superintendent of Castle Garden , and worked to protect emigrants against swindlers. In 1860 he became superintendent of the New York City Police . During the New York Draft Riots , aged 59, he was severely beaten by a mob, while protecting the office of the provost marshal at 46th Street and 3rd Avenue, on the morning of 14 July 1863. Citation needed date May 2011 When he returned to duty he was appointed provost marshal of New York City, as well as superintendent of police, and continued to serve in this double capacity during the American Civil War . He made many enemies through his efforts to enforce the metropolitan excise law. He resigned on 11 April 1870, he then served as president of a street railroad company for about two years, and then held the office of collector of assessments until his death in New York City on June 20, 1873, aged 69, ten years after the riots.     John Kennedy 4 July 1769 30 Oct 1855 was a Scotland Scottish born textile industrialist in Manchester . John Kennedy was born in 1769 in Knocknalling , Kirkcudbrightshire , Scotland. In 1784 he moved to Chowbent , near Leigh in Lancashire , to be apprenticed to William Cannan, the son of a neighbour of the Kennedys. His training covered the manufacture of textile machinery including carding engines, spinning jenny jennies , and water frame s. On the completion of his apprenticeship in 1791, he moved to Manchester and went into a long lasting partnership with James McConnel, a nephew and former apprentice of Cannan, to manufacture textile machinery and undertake cotton spinning. Benjamin and William Sandford provided the financial backing. Kennedy was a skilled and inventive engineer and is credited with devising a crucial improvement to fine spinning machinery, called double speed, which enabled much finer thread to be manufactured. In 1795 McConnel and Kennedy, now financially independent, moved to a new factory in the same Canal Street, where they remained for six or seven years. Initially the firm made cotton spinning machinery for sale, but this part of the business ended around 1800. Then they built the first of their three spinning mills in Union Street now Redhill Street in Ancoats , Manchester which formed the basis of Kennedy s working life for the next thirty years.
