Thomas Frederick Harrison Oxley known professionally as Harrison Oxley and socially as Fred Oxley 3 April 1933  6 April 2009 was a British organist , who was appointed Organist of St Edmundsbury Cathedral aged 24. At the time, he was the youngest cathedral organist in the country. He was the first English cathedral organist to supplement the boys voices in the cathedral choir with those of girls he began to use girls voices in the early 1970s. Life Oxley was born on 3 April 1933. His father was an organist and metallurgist , and Oxley learned how to play the organ from watching his father at St Francis of Assisi s Church, Bournville , Birmingham , where he was the deputy organist. Aged 11, Oxley played for G. D. Cunningham , the Birmingham City Organist , whose advice was that Oxley should study at King Edward s School, Birmingham to which he won a scholarship in 1946 and aim for a career as a musician. He won a silver medal from the Associated Board for his results in a piano examination when he was 12, and won the under 20 piano class aged 13. As a pupil at King Edward s, he studied under the school s Director of Music, Willis Grant , who appointed him as his Assistant. Paul Oxley is an English Songwriter Lyricist Producer Living in Helsinki, Finland. He is well known as the lead singer songwriter of Anglo Finnish band Paul Oxley s Unit who have just celebrated their 30 year anniversary with the release of a DVD edition of their first album Living in the Western World with Sony Music. The album went platinum in Finland and spent a record 17 weeks at the number one spot. Paul s songs Terry s Inside and Spanish Bars are both included in the top 100 songs of all time in Finland. The band have released 7 albums. Paul is now a very active songwriter and now works with top writers and producers in Scandinavia. Chapman and Oxley was a Toronto , Ontario , Canada based architectural firm and responsible for designing a number of Beaux arts architecture Beaux Arts buildings in the city in the 1920s and 1930s. Even with the departure of Chapman, the firm s last projects appeared to be in the late 1940s. The firm was founded by architects Alfred Hirschfelder Chapman 1875 1949 and James Morrow Oxley 1883 1957 in 1919. A.H. Chapman lived in Toronto and studied architecture in Paris. Prior to going to Paris he apprenticed under Toronto architect Beaumont Jarvis 1864 1948 . Chapman and Oxley ended his work in 1943 and died in 1949. He is buried at St. George s Church Anglican and Cemetery Susan Sibbald Memorial Stone Church in Sutton, Ontario . Chapman s son Howard D. Chapman Chapman and Hurst was also an architect and worked with Howard V. Walker on a number of restoration projects in the 1980s. His other son Christopher Chapman 1927 is a writer, director and cinematographer. J.M.
