Jos Engelen 1950 , a Dutch people Dutch physicist , is Chairman of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek NWO since 1 January 2009. NWO is the principal Dutch science funding body. Curriculum Vitae Jos Engelen studied physics at the Radboud University Nijmegen the Netherlands . After graduating in 1973 he worked there as a researcher and lecturer, gaining his doctorate in 1979. From 1979 to 1985 Engelen worked at CERN , the European research centre for particle physics in Geneva Switzerland . In 1985, he accepted a position at the NWO research institute NIKHEF Nikhef National Institute for Subatomic Physics . He became professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Amsterdam in 1987. At CERN and DESY Hamburg, Germany he carried out experiments in the area of the strong interaction, hard photoproduction and dispersion in deep inelastic collisions. He also developed initiatives for research in the field of astroparticle physics. From 2001 to 2003 Engelen was director of Nikhef and in 2004 he became the scientific director and acting director general of CERN, a position he held until 2008. Go Jos were a British TV dance troupe , who appeared regularly on the BBC 1 TV music chart show Top of the Pops following its launch in 1964 until Pan s People replaced them in May 1968. The troupe were formed by Jo Cook who had been a member of the Beat Girls who appeared in a weekly pop show on BBC 2 called The Beat Room . Initially when artists were not available to perform their number one hits on Top of the Pops the camera panned to audience members dancing, but the producer then decided it was necessary to feature professional dancers and recruited the Go Jos. Initially, Linda Hotchkin and Jane Bartlett were the two other members of the three girl troupe.
