NormanJoseph Favaloro 1905 1989 was an Australia n lawyer and amateur ornithologist and oologist . He practiced law in Mildura , Victoria, Australia Victoria where he lived most of his life. In 1940 he was appointed an Honorary Associate in the Ornithology Department of the Melbourne Museum National Miseum of Victoria , an association he retained the rest of his life. He made three trips to the subantarctic , visiting Macquarie Island , Heard Island and Kerguelen Island . At Macquarie Island he collected King Penguins and their eggs for the National Museum of Victoria. His own notable egg collection was also bequeathed to the Museum. Dafydd Lockyer , born 5 June 1985 in Cwmbach , Wales , is a rugby union player for Pontypridd RFC in the Welsh Premier Division Principality Premiership . Lockyer first joined up with Ponty from his local Abercwmboi RFC club as a raw youngster, with the Pontypridd Academy in 2001 and then with the senior squad in 2003. Initially playing on the wing, Lockyer moved to the inside centre position, making a huge impact as a line breaking ball carrier. An integral part of Ponty s successful Welsh Cup campaigns of 2005 and 2006, Lockyer earned a worthy reputation as one of the star players at semi professional level. Unreferenced date April 2007 Robert Lockyer sometimes spelled Lockier 1625 1649 was an English people English soldier in Oliver Cromwell s New Model Army . A Leveller , he was the only soldier executed for his involvement in the Bishopsgate mutiny . Lockyer has been identified with the son of Mary Lockyer, a resident of St. Botulph Bishopsgate who, with her son, was known to have been a Strict Baptist by 1642. In the same year, Lockyer certainly joined the Parliamentary Army. He served in the regiment of Edward Whalley during the turmoil at the end of the decade by this time he was already deeply committed to Leveller ideas. When some of the troops under Captain John Savage were removed to Essex apparently in order to remove them from Leveller agitation in central London , Lockyer helped incite a brief mutiny. On 26 April 1649, he and some other soldiers took the regimental Colours, standards and guidons colors and barricaded themselves inside a Leveller meeting place in Bishopsgate. The soldiers complaints were more practical than ideological they refused to leave unless paid overdue wages. The arrival of Thomas Fairfax, 3rd Lord Fairfax of Cameron Thomas Fairfax and Cromwell on the scene put an end to the brief insurrection. Fairfax singled out Lockyer for punishment, as the presumed ringleader. On 27 April he was executed by firing squad in the yard of St Paul s Cathedral . His funeral procession was reportedly attended by more than four thousand people, many wearing green ribbons to signal their allegiance to Leveller ideas. The affair crystallized popular discontent with Cromwell s martial law , and Lockyer s memory was invoked by the mutineers at Banbury later the same year. References Further reading Ian J. Malcolm Lockyer 5 October 1923 28 June 1976 was a British film composer and conductor. In his early years he developed an interest in dance and from here gathered an interest in music. At the age of nineteen he became a musician in the Royal Air Force and in 1944 joined the Buddy Featherstonhaugh Sextet. His biggest successes in composition were for the BBC series Friends and Neighbours in 1959 for which he wrote the theme. He wrote the scores for at least three films Island of Terror 1966 , Sandy the Seal 1969 , and La Loba y La Paloma 1974 . He also composed the music for the 1965 film Dr. Who and the Daleks , some arrangements from that film have since been released on a CD called The Eccentric Dr. Who . One of the highlights of Lockyer s career was arranging and conducting the Bing Crosby album Holiday in Europe 1961 , described as one of the all time Crosby classics by the noted jazz critic Will Friedwald in his liner notes to the CD Bing Crosby Legends of the 20th Century , which includes seven tracks from the album. Lockyer conducted frequently throughout the 1960s. Among the many orchestras he led were those for the BBC Radio Home Service s radio musical version of Jerome K. Jerome s Three Men in a Boat 1962 and the films Our Man in Marrakesh 1966 and Deadlier than the Male 1967 .
