Stefano Bettarello born 2 April 1958 in Rovigo is an Italian former rugby union player. He played as a fly half for several clubs, mainly Rugby Rovigo Rovigo and Benetton Rugby Treviso Benetton Treviso , winning an Italian Championship with each. Son of Romano Bettarello and nephew of Ottorino Bettarello, both international players for Italy rugby union national team Italy , he was considered amongst of the best Italian players of his generation. He won 55 full caps for Italy national rugby union team Italy scoring 7 tries, 46 conversions, 104 penalties and 17 drop goals totalising 483 points, that made him the second best international scorer for his country after Diego Dominguez . For much of his career he specialized in history painting . Biography Ussi studied at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts and then served as a volunteer in the first war of independence, during which he was taken prisoner by the Austrian troops. Having returned to Florence, he won the Triennale prize for painting in 1849 and presented works on historical and literary subjects at the exhibitions of the Florentine Societ Promotrice di Belle Arti in the following years. Associated with the Macchiaioli group of painters gravitating around the Caff Michelangelo, he achieved great success with The Expulsion of the Duke of Athens Florence, Galleria d Arte Moderna, Palazzo Pitti , exhibited in Florence at the city s first Esposizione Nazionale in 1861 and was awarded a prize in Paris in 1867.
