It was founded in August 1911 by Tsuruichi Hayashi . Due to World War II the publication of the journal stopped in 1943 with volume 49. Publication was resumed in 1949 with the volume numbering starting again at 1. In order to distinguish between the identical numbered volumes, volumes in the first publishing period are referred to as the first series whereas the later volumes are called second series . It is a member of China Association of Science and Technology . History The Chinese MathematicalSociety CMS was founded in July 1935 in Shanghai . The inaugural conference was held in the library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University on July 25, and 33 attended the meeting. Its founding members included Hu Dunfu , Feng Zuxun , Zhou Meiquan , Jiang Lifu , Xiong Qinglai , Chen Jiangong , Su Buqing , Jiang Zehan , Qian Baozong, and Fu Zhongsun. The society published academic journalJournal of Chinese MathematicalSociety , and a math promoting magazine, Mathematics Magazine . In 1952 and 1953, these two journals was renamed Acta Mathematica Sinica , and Mathematics Letters . After formation, the office of CMS was located in China Science Society in 533 Ya erpei Rd now, South Shaaxi Rd in Shanghai. After establishment of the People s Republic of China , the Society was moved to Institute of Mathematics of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing . Currently, CMS is affiliated to the Institute of Mathematics and System Science of CAS.
