The common family name is stonecrop. This classification includes K. rhimbopilosa var. argentia and K. rhimbopilosa var. viridifolia. This species of plant is endemic to southwest Itampolo Madagascar. This plant was identified by Mannoni & Boiteau in 1947 and is indexed in Notul. Syst. Paris 13 153 154, 1947 . The plant grows to 10 20  cm in height. This plant is a perennial and herbaceous. A dwarf compared to the largest species of Kalanchoe K. beharensis which can grow as tall as 6 meters. Identifying features include thick stems and leaves 2 3  cm as well as extreme variation in leaf color among individuals. The colors can range from grey to dark green with varying amounts of brown spots. The leaf insertion petolate and occurs alternately or oppositely. The leaf shape is obovate with an adaxiallary upper lamina surface and a reciprocating abaxiallary lower surface. Small pale yellow flowers form on the plant when day length is between 8 and 10 hours and can be forced to flower by modifying sun exposure to the short day cycle simply by moving it out of the sun for a couple hour a day. Sexual reproduction produces a tiny, nearly microscopic seed and asexual reproduction occurs readily through dropped leaves. Image Muscari displaying vegetative reproduction.JPG thumb 240px right A bulb of Muscari has reproduced vegetatively underground to make two bulbs, each of which produces a flower stem. Vegetative reproduction vegetative propagation , vegetative multiplication , vegetative cloning is a form of asexual reproduction in plants. It is a process by which new individuals arise without production of seed s or spore s. It can occur naturally or be induced by horticulture horticulturists . Although most plants normally reproduce sexually, many have the ability for vegetative propagation, or can be vegetatively propagated if small pieces are subjected to chemical hormonal treatments. This is because meristem meristematic cells capable of cellular differentiation are present in many plant tissues. Horticulturalists are interested in understanding how meristematic cells can be induced to reproduce an entire plant. Success rates and difficulty of propagation vary greatly. For example willow and coleus can be propagated merely by inserting a stem in water or moist soil. On the other hand, monocotyledon s, unlike dicotyledon s, typically lack a vascular cambium and therefore are harder to propagate.
