The Domin scale, a commonly used means of classifying a standard area by the number of plant species found in that area, is named after him. In the academic year 1933 34 he was rector of Charles University and was one of the participants of a struggle for ancient academic insignia between the Czech and German universities of Prague the insigni da that resulted in street fights and looting. Karel Va k is a Czechs Czech France French international official and university professor . Vasak was born in Czechoslovakia and later moved to France to study law . He decided to remain there after the Prague Spring Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. He acquired French citizenship and worked for the Council of Europe in various capacities. In 1969, Vasak became the first Secretary General of the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg , a position which he held until 1980. Karel Josef Barvitius born Karel Brodsk on December 9, 1864 Havlickuv Brod N meck Brod March 23, 1937, Prague was publisher of book s and music . After studies of law he tried a career as a composer . In 1897 he set up a shop with musical instruments and in 1914 added music and book publishing.
