The sport of football soccer football in the country of Zambia is run by the Football Association of Zambia . The association administers the Zambia national football team national football team , as well as the Zambian Premier League Premier League . The First President of Zambia, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda showed much support for the sports of soccer. I remember when Zambia was playing against another country at Independence stadium, President Kaunda would be there. He always would kick the ball before the match kicked off. During Kaunda s Presidency, the national team was called the KK 11. I believe his presence at the soccer games did inspire many young Zambians into playing soccer. I have been informed that President Kaunda did attend the recent 2012,Chipolopolo vs. Ivory Coast game. I just visited Zambia in January 2012, and was impressed to see the establishment of a soccer academy in Lusaka close to the independence stadium. On 21 December of the same year Kapwepwe, taking advantage of a by election , became a National Assembly of Zambia Parliament arian for the UPP. Kaunda reacted swiftly on 4 February 1972, he made the specious accusation that Kapwepwe was an instrument of the White Rhodesia n, South Africa n and Portugal Potuguese governments Kapwepwe and 122 of his followers were arrested and the UPP was banned.
