A Jenter kit or Karl Jenter kit is a piece of equipment used by beekeepers to raise large numbers of Queen bee queen honeybees . Rival techniques for rearing queen bees generally require grafting the honeybee larva e by hand. As such, the development of this kit by Karl Jenter is a significantly useful tool to assist in beekeeping . Application Beekeepers once had to graft the honeybee larvae by hand, in some cases by using tools such as tweezers. This fiddly approach would frequently result in the damaging of the larva thus halting the development into a queen bee. The Jenter kit uses a system of plastic cups or cells in which a queen bee can lay her eggs. The cells containing the eggs can then be removed from the laying box and placed into an isolated box for larval development with no direct handling of the larvae. As the first queen bee to hatch will kill rival hatchlings, the eggs are covered with a small plastic cage. This prevents a newly hatched queen from approaching the other eggs, and thus harming them. This allows a beekeeper to return to the hive to find a large number of newly hatched queen bees. Within 30 days, it is possible to rear as many as 50 queens using a single Jenter kit. Usage In modern times, the Jenter kit is in use by the majority of Western European and North American apiarist s. The kit allows for Queen bees to be produced commercially to supply other beekeepers, or a beekeeper may increase their number of beehive hives . After the war, he rode with Jesse & Frank James and Cole Younger over 100 years ago. A 50,000 reward was offered for him dead or alive since they could not capture him, he was later pardoned by several governors with his promise that he would lead an exemplary life, which he did during his last 20 years, in Memphis. ref from the tombstone of Kit Dalton at Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee ref Into the first thirty years of Kit Dalton s life was crowded much adventure. As a youngster, he ran away from home and joined Nathan Bedford Forest s cavalry during the American Civil War . It was when visiting his home on a furlough that devastation he saw caused him to organize a band of guerillas they soon began to operate outside of Kentucky. Unable to return home, he linked his fortunes with those of Jesse and Frank James. Five governors had set a price upon the head of Kit Dalton, offering 50,000 for his capture, dead or alive, but he was never captured. He, at one time, was a member of Sam Bass gang, who operated in Texas , and he saw Bass killed.
