    File Knickerbocker Theater.jpg right thumbnail The Knickerbocker Theatre in October, 1917 The Knickerbocker Theatre was a Washington, D.C. , movie theater located at 18th Street and Columbia Road in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. It collapsed on January 28, 1922 under the weight of snow from a two day blizzard that was later dubbed the Knickerbocker Storm . The theater was showing Get Rich Quick Wallingford 1921 film Get Rich Quick Wallingford at the time of the collapse, which killed 98 patrons and injured 133 more. The disaster ranks as one of the worst in History of Washington, D.C. Washington. D.C. history . Former Congressman Andrew Jackson Barchfeld and a number of prominent political and business leaders were among those killed in the theater. The theater s architect, Reginald Geare , and owner, Harry Crandall, later committed suicide, Geare in 1927 and Crandall in 1937. Theater The Knickerbocker Theatre was commissioned by Harry Crandall in 1917. The Knickerbocker Sailing Association KSA founded in 1994 is a members club set up by and for gay and lesbian sailors in New York , New Jersey , Connecticut and Rhode Island . KSA membership is open to all LGBT and straight people who support each other and love to get out on the water. History KSA began with an inaugural trip in August 1994. 13 gay men met in Jersey City for a sail aboard a 38 foot Irwin cruiser. As of January 2012, KSA had 184 members of all ages. Its fleet included 40 boats 37 sailboat s and 3 powerboat s. While some members have impressive sailing experience, no sailing experience is necessary to join. KSA hosts various flotillas throughout the tri state area, from Atlantic Highlands to Block Island to Provincetown. Captains provide their own vessels and crew participate in helping to sail boats with other members. Events KSA is the organizer of the Annual Stonewall Sails Regatta, an official event of New York s Heritage of Pride s Gay Pride Week .
