Image Korban Natanael.jpg thumb Title page of Korban Netana el , Karlsruhe 1755 Nathaniel Weil 1687 7 May 1769 was a rabbi and talmudist born at St hlingen , son of Naphtali Zvi Hirsch Weil. Biography His mother took him to F rth when he was ten years old, and sent him afterward on a wagon to Prague , where his father s brother, Lippman Weil, adopted him. Although so young, he was granted permission to attend the lectures of R. Abraham Brod, head of the Prague yeshiva R. Abraham was so impressed with him that he arranged a match between him and R. Abraham s niece, V gele . The wedding was celebrated in 1708, and when R. Abraham was called to the rabbinate of Mainz , Nethanel came with him. In 1717 he returned to Prague, where he occupied himself with Talmudic studies and with teaching thousands of students, while drawing a scanty salary as assistant rabbi of Prague. Weil remained in Prague until the issue of the edict of Maria Theresa of Austria of Dec. 18, 1744, ordering the expulsion of all Jews from Bohemia . This proved to be the means of releasing him from a burdensome existence, for he was then offered the rabbinate of the Black Forest , with headquarters in M hringen near Horb am Neckar . He assumed office in 1745, and held it for five years, writing the greater part of his commentary on Asher ben Jehiel during that time. In 1750 he was called as rabbi to Karlsruhe , and there he completed the commentary in the spring of 1754. It was published at Karlsruhe in 1755 under the title Korban Nethan el, and was later printed together with Asheri in editions of the Talmud, although it embraces only the orders Moed and Nashim . Nethaneel officiated in Karlsruhe for about twenty years, and died at Rastatt on May 7, 1769. In addition to the orban Netan el, which was published by himself, he was the author of two works published posthumously by his son Simeon Hirsch Netib ayyim F rth ...   more details

  1. Gift offering

Kehuna and Kohanim A meal offering or gift offering lang he minkhah , also referred to as grain offering s, is a type of korban Biblical sacrifice , specifically a sacrifice that did not include meat. In older English it is sometimes called an oblation , from Latin. Etymology The Hebrew noun minkhah is used 211 times in the Masoretic Text of the Hebrew Bible with the first instances being the minkhah offered by both Cain and Abel in Book of Genesis Genesis 4. It is also used of Jacob s present to Esau in Genesis 32 and again of the present to the Egyptian ruler in fact Joseph his son in Genesis 43. In the King James Version of 1611 this was rendered as meat offerings, since at the time the King James Version was written, meat referred to food in general rather than the flesh of animals in particular. Hebrew Bible Gift offerings were often made on their own, but also accompanied the burnt offering . Scholars who date September 2011 believe that the term gift offering originally referred to all voluntary sacrifices, but that it later came to just refer to non meat offerings. The quintessential gift offering was one of grain not just high quality flour , frankincense , and oil . The grain could either be raw and mixed with oil, or mixed with oil and cooked into Flatbread unleavened bread , or cooked into wafers and spread with oil. According to tradition what date September 2011 ten such cakes of bread had to be made for each offering. A portion of this was then burnt on the altar, along with the frankincense, while the remainder was allocated to the priests, who were to eat it within the sanctuary.
