It is signed small TICI ANVS F. small and depicts Laura Dianti , lover and later wife of Alfonso I d Este . Titian painted several portraits of Dianti, perhaps including the Woman with a Mirror now at the Louvre. In this one she wears a sumptuous blue dress, jewellery and a diadem. Her right arm runs down the side of her body while her left hand rests on the shoulder of an African page boy. History Vasari mentions a portrait of Dianti, which was engraved by E. Sadler. Carlo Ridolfi Ridolfi , in 1648 , described the work based on the engraving. There are several copies and versions of the painting, one of which generally thought to be the autograph version was sent in 1599 from Cesare d Este to Rudolph II, Holy Roman Emperor in Prague . In 1649 it was in the collection of Christina of Sweden , who brought it to Rome in 1654. It then passed into the collections of Decio Azzolino , then in 1686 of prince Odescalchi , then in 1721 Philippe II, Duke of Orl ans Philip of Orleans . In 1800 it was in an English collection and in 1876 it was in the Cook collection before arriving in the Kisters collection in Kreuzlingen . Modern criticism previously held the work to be an autograph copy of a lost original, like the versions at the Galleria Estense in Modena , the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Galleria Borghese in Rome and several private collections. After a restoration in America, which revealed the signature on the sleeve, it is again thought to be the original work. His record as manager was fairly poor, winning just twelve games out of thirty five. However he had the respect of the fans for staying with the club for so long and showing a passion for the club. Libero De Luca 1913 &ndash 1997, Horn was an Italian lyric tenor particularly associated with the French repertory. Life and career De Luca was born in Kreuzlingen , Switzerland, and studied voice at the Zurich Coservatory with Alfredo Cairati. After winning a first prize at an international voice competition in Geneva , in 1941, he made his professional debut the following year at the Solothurn Municipal Theatre. After one season at the Bern Municipal Theatre, he became first tenor at the Zurich Opera in 1943 until 1949. During that period, he also appeared regularly to great acclaim at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples , the Royal Opera House in London, at La Monnaie in Brussels , and at the Teatro Col n in Buenos Aires . In 1949, he made his debut at both the Op ra Comique and the Palais Garnier , where he became first tenor in the French repertoire. Being Italian, Libero De Luca was fluent in German, French and Italian, and excelled in all three repertories in lyric roles. He retired from the stage in 1961, and became a full time voice teacher in Horn, Switzerland , near Lake Constance . De Luca made several recordings, notably in Mignon and Manon , opposite Janine Micheau , Lakm , opposite Mado Robin , and Carmen , opposite Suzanne Juyol .
