distinguish Bank of Canton Canton Trust and Commercial Bank The Kwangtung Provincial Bank zh t was a bank latterly based in Hong Kong . Also known as the Provincial Bank of Kwangtung Province. The largest of the provincial banks, there were however a succession of at least seven distinct organisations functioning as The Kwangtung Provincial Bank from 1905 through 1949, with Chinese mainland operations suspended in 1950 51 absorbed into the Peoples Bank of China following the establishment of the Peoples Republic of China. The remainder of the bank continued in operation until 2001 when it was taken over by the Bank of China Hong Kong . Banknote Issue The first known banknote issues appeared in 1913, through to 1922, all printed by the American Banknote Company, New York. Subsequent issues are of 1923 and 1925 as the Central Bank of China. During the 1930s, three separate issues of currency all dated 1931 were issued by the bank. Small change 10, 20 and 50 cent issues appeared in 1934 and 1935. Larger notes of 1 to 10 were issued between 1935 to 1940 after which the bank was taken over by the invading Japanese. Following the defeat of Japan in 1945, the bank was re established and issued one final series of currency in 1949 in denominations of 1, 5, 10 and 50 cents, and 1, 5, 10 and 100 Yuan. Two million dollars worth of the 1918 notes were withdrawn by the bank under the orders of Dr Sun Yatsen, to fund military activities during 1921 22. The Japanese Imperial Army had two types of Mixed Brigades. First type was the Mixed Brigade. This was the detachment of an infantry brigade from an IJA Infantry Division with various Divisional support units or sometimes units attached from its Corps or Army. Unreferenced date December 2009 Joseph Cucchiara was born on the island Sicily of Italy in 1889. He joined Salesians of Don Bosco in 1907. After the outbreak of World War I , he followed the armies and served in hospitals. He was delegated to the diocese of Shiu Chow of Kwangtung in 1911. He worked hard and founded many churches and schools in the area. After communists came to the area, most of these structures were in hand of communists. He was then sent to work in Aberdeen Technical School in Hong Kong . At the meantime, he helped the sisters of Sisters Announcers of the Lord from Shiu Chow to Hong Kong. He delicated much effort to help the sisters open Tak Nga Primary School and Tak Nga Secondary School . He died in Canossa Hospital on 18 December 1966 and buried in Happy Valley, Hong Kong . The sisters from Sisters Announcers of the Lord founded a school on Tsing Yi Island and named it Father Cucchiara Memorial School to memorise his contribution. Unreferenced date October 2008 Yong Mun Sen b. 1896 1962 . Born Yong Yen Lang in Kuching, Sarawak, he changed his name to Yong Mun Sen in 1922. He is widely known as the Father of Malaysian Painting. Although trained in formal Chinese brush painting and calligraphy in Kwangtung, China, as an artist he was drawn to watercolours and later oils. He settled in Penang in 1922, where he had his own art studios on Penang Road and later Northam Road. Mun Sen is famous for his landscape paintings in watercolours, which incorporated influences from Chinese art resulting in more airy and generalised compositions rather than in more detailed or factual depictions. Since his death in 1962, his works have retained an important and honoured place in Malaysian Art. He has two offsprings who follow in his footsteps, ChengWah and KhengWah. History of Hong Kong Early history Tuen Mun, a name that is used to refer to the western part of the modern day territory of Hong Kong, was a military camp and naval base during the Tang Dynasty of China since 621 AD. Rail transport Tramways When the British crown colony of Hong Kong began on the Hong Kong Island on 1842, there was no public transport.
