It was a continuation of the Army of the Interior , renamed twice, without change to its commanders. Creation and evolution since 1792 An Army of the Interior was created on 4 September 1792, but was dissolved on 22 September into the Army of the North France Army of the North and Army of the South France Army of the South before its creation was complete. The Army was reformed on 21 October 1792 using the barracks of Paris that was abolished the day before. The army became a reserve army from 1 March 1793 by executive order of the Conseil ex cutif . By means of a decree, the army became the Army of the Coasts of LaRochelle on 30 April 1793. Their great courage initiated a liberal campaign and they became legendary. They became particularly popular figures amongst the carbonari in Italy. The flag used by the Four Sergeants was once owned by Prince J r me Bonaparte . It is a French Flag of France Tricolor bearing the slogans Constitution and Napoleon II on one side and Honour and Fatherland on the other. The flag was used by the carbonari ventes between 1821 and 1822. It was seen during the plot of the 29th line regiment in Belfort , then in Paris , and finally in LaRochelle where it was preserved.
