He was the son of Benjamin Latrobe , architect of the United States Capitol and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Basilica of the Assumption . The junior Latrobe was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania , and was educated in Baltimore, Maryland , and later at Georgetown University Georgetown College . He married Maria Eleanor Ellen Hazlehurst on March 12, 1833. The viaduct spans the Patapsco River between Arbutus, Maryland Relay and Elkridge, Maryland . Early on it was nicknamed Latrobe s Folly as many doubted the massive structure could support itself. History Latrobe Country Club was founded in 1920 by a group of leading industrialists, bankers and professionals from Latrobe, PA. The group had acquired convert 63 acre m2 of the Kennan Farm bordering on what was then the National Lincoln Highway U.S. Route 30 just west of Youngstown. By the summer of 1921 work was well underway on the golf course and clubhouse. Among those on the job was a teenager named Milford Deacon Deke Palmer, Arnold Palmer s father. From that hilly plot of ground emerged a short but imaginative nine hole course. Despite tough economic times, the Club made steady progress over the next two decades. Additional tracts of land were purchased, allowing for revisions that greatly improved the course. In 1944, the Unity Land Company was created and became owner of the property and financed further expansion of the clubhouse and other facilities. The seat was created in a redistribution ahead of the Tasmanian state election, 1897 1897 state election out of the former seat of Electoral district of East Devon East Devon , and was abolished when the Tasmanian parliament adopted the Hare Clark electoral model in 1909. The circumstances of its first by election were initiated when the member for neighbouring Electoral district of Devonport Devonport , John Henry Australian politician John Henry , resigned.
