He took various music related jobs including demonstrating and selling sheet music in department stores before being hired full time by the Shapiro Bernstein Publishing House of Tin Pan Alley as a staff pianist and song plugger. He published his first composition a Cakewalk in 1899. He became known as an accomplished lyricist, although he also continued writing music. In 1901 he started working with William Jerome . They collaborated on many songs which were used in Broadway theatre Broadway shows, including Mr. Dooley, sung by the title character in The Wizard of Oz 1902 stage play The Wizard of Oz , as well as the Ziegfeld Follies . Fernando Schwartz born 1937 in Geneva is a Spain Spanish writer . As the son of diplomat s and a diplomat for 25 years he has lived in several countries. He was Spanish Ambassador in Kuwait and the Netherlands and spokesman of foreign policy until 1988. He worked later for PRISA group as councillor, spokesman and communication in chief of El Pa s newspaper. He has been professor of Opinion in Autonomous University of Madrid UAM journalism department and conductor of TV program Lo m s Plus in Canal Plus . He lives currently between Madrid and Majorca with his family.
