  1. Wherehouse

for the music store Trans World Entertainment The Wherehouse , officially titled A. Wherehouse , is a warehouse located at 55 Pond Street in Waltham, Massachusetts . It was rented out by the rock band Aerosmith , starting in 1975 and continuing for the remainder of the decade, and into the 1980s as well. The warehouse featured a garage where the band members would park their cars, upstairs offices for the band s personnel, and a ground level recording studio and stage where the band would often rehearse, write, and record music. The band would also hold meetings here and use the building to rest and relax. Steve Leber and David Krebs, managers for Aerosmith during the 1970 s, also managed Ted Nugent and Mahogany Rush . Those artists also used the Wherehouse as a practice and tour rehearsal site when they were in Boston. The Wherehouse was also the birthplace of Aero Force One , the band s official fan club. Ray Tabano started up the club, writing newsletters and selling merchandise out of the building. Tabano was also responsible for the general maintenance of the building and its offices. Occasionally, Aerosmith would rent out the stage and studio to other musicians. The band Boston band Boston scored their famous record deal when they rented out the building and played for record company executives here. It is a factor for the severity of mitochondrial disease s, since most eukaryotic cells contain many hundreds of mitochondria with hundreds of copies of mtDNA, it is possible and indeed very frequent for mutation s to affect only some of the copies, while the remaining ones are unaffected. Symptoms of severe heteroplasmic mitochondrial disorders frequently do not appear until adulthood because many cell divisions and a lot of time is required for a cell to receive enough mitochondria containing the mutant alleles to cause symptoms. An example of this phenomenon is Leber s hereditary optic neuropathy Leber optic atrophy . Individuals with this condition often do not experience vision difficulties until they have reached adulthood. Another example is MERRF syndrome or Myoclonic Epilepsy with Ragged Red Fibers . In mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke like episodes MELAS , heteroplasmy explains the variation in severity of the disease among siblings. Notable cases One notable example of an otherwise healthy individual whose heteroplasmy was discovered incidentally is Nicholas II of Russia , whose heteroplasmy and that of his brother served to convince Russia n authorities of the authenticity of his remains. ref ...   more details

  1. Rudel Scandal

The Rudel Scandal of 1976 lang de Rudel Aff re was a political scandal in Germany which concerned the way the German Army dealt with the traditions of the Wehrmacht . In the spring of 1976, businessman and former Luftwaffe Colonel Hans Ulrich Rudel , who had returned from Paraguay was invited by high ranking Bundeswehr officers to a tradition meeting of the Aufkl rungsgeschwader 51 Immelmann . Rudel had earlier been a leading member of the Neo Nazi German Reich Party , and was considered persona non grata by the Ministry of Defense because of his undiminished admiration of Adolf Hitler . He was invited only after an intervention by the opposition s spokesman for Defense, Manfred W rner , and attended as the last commander of Schlachtgeschwader 2 Immelmann . Present at the meeting, where Rudel signed his books and gave autographs to soldiers, were the Luftwaffe Generals Karl Heinz Franke and Walter Krupinski . Later, the generals publicly compared Rudel s past as a Nazi and Neo Nazi supporter to the career of prominent Social Democrat leader Herbert Wehner , who had been a member of the German Communist Party in the 1930s and who had lived in Moscow during World War II , where he was allegedly involved in NKVD operations. Calling Wehner an extremist , they described Rudel as an honourable man who hadn t stolen the family silver or anything else . ref http www.zeit.de 1976 46 Die Generaele von gestern?page 3 Die Gener le von gestern , in Die ZEIT 46 1976 ref When these remarks became public, the Federal Minister of Defence Germany Federal Minister of Defence Georg Leber ordered the generals into early retirement as of 1 November 1976.
