Powered by an Convert 8 bhp kW 0 abbr on electric motor and lead acid batteries , the car had a top speed of around Convert 48 mph km h 0 abbr on , and a range of around Convert 40 mi . Production came to an end in 1977. The Enfield 8000 had a tubular chassis frame with aluminium body panels. It used suspension parts from the Hillman Imp , the doors were adapted from the Mini and the rear axle was derived from Reliant Motor Company Reliant three wheelers. The company was later incorporated into the Greece Greek Neorion company also owned by Mr. Goulandris and production was transferred to the Greek island of Syros the company having transformed into a new Greek company, Enfield Neorion, headquartered in Piraeus . Ironically, it could not be legally sold in Greece due to tax categorization issues connected with its electric power, so all production was exported to the United Kingdom only around 100 were manufactured . Enfield Neorion developed some vehicles itself in Greece, including a jeep version of the 8000 model aiming at the rent a car market in the Greek islands. However, for the aforementioned reason, no sales were made in this country. Radio Enfield is a voluntary broadcasting service for patients in Chase Farm Hospital , Enfield Town Enfield . It broadcasts programmes of record requests, local news, interviews, quizzes and other items of interest 24 hours a day. There are special request programmes for the patients in Chase Farm Hospital broadcast Sunday to Friday from 8 10pm. The station is operated by volunteers in their spare time, who present programmes, collect requests, manage the record library and keep the equipment working. He is also the father of British comedian Harry Enfield and novelist Lizzie Enfield , and husband of Deirdre. Biography He was educated at Ashbury College in Ottawa , Canada, Westminster School , London and University College Oxford . He had various jobs in industry, including with Cathay Pacific , until joining the education department of West Sussex County Council, where he became Assistant Director of Education. After overseeing the privatisation of school meals and cleaning services, he took early retirement and went on to present a radio travel programme from Ireland 1994. He then appeared on BBC television with Anne Robinson on the consumer programme Watchdog TV series Watchdog and became a regular reporter on the show. He has also appeared on Points of View , the Heaven and Earth Show , Through the Keyhole , daytime shows such as Richard & Judy and various holiday programmes.
