Dittel is known for establishing urology as an independent field of medicine at the University of Vienna. He developed several innovative diagnostic and surgical practices in regards to genitourinary medicine. He is remembered for his pioneer diagnostic work with the cystoscope , a device that had recently been invented by Maximilian Nitze 1848 1906 . In urology, the cystoscope is used for endoscope endoscopic detection of urinary bladder bladder tumors and other urinary disorders. With Felix Legueu 1863 1939 the Dittel Forgue Legueu operation is named, which is a surgical procedure for closure of vesicovaginal fistula e VVF . Biography Schrenck was a Baltic German born and brought up near Chotenj, south west of St Petersburg . He received his doctorate from the University of Tartu , and then studied natural science in Humboldt University of Berlin Berlin and University of K nigsberg K nigsberg . He joined the crew of the Aurora in the circumnavigation of the world. In 1853 Schrenck was sent by the St Petersburg Academy of Sciences to explore the Amurland on board the schooner Vostok . He reached the mouth of the Amur River Amur in September 1854 with the botanist Carl Maximowicz . In February 1855 he visited Sakhalin and then explored the Amur in the spring and summer. In 1856 he returned overland to Europe , via Lake Baykal . He published his findings in his Reisen und Forschungen im Amur Lande 1860 . He was awarded the Konstantin medal by the Russian Geographical Society. In later years Schrenck turned his attention to the study of the native peoples of Russia. On 10 November, 1879 he was appointed director of the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography in St Petersburg .     Friedrich Leopold Graf von Gessler or Ge ler 24 June 1688 &ndash 22 August 1762 was a Kingdom of Prussia Prussian Generalfeldmarschall and one of Frederick II of Prussia Frederick the Great s most famous cavalry generals. Gessler was born in Dvoriki Schwarzenau in the Duchy of Prussia . He entered an infantry regiment in K nigsberg in 1703, becoming a cadet on 6 June.
