It was founded in February 1995 by a group of family history family historians . At present they have about 50 members, who come from Letchworth , Baldock , Hitchin , Stotfold and Welwyn Garden City . The group range from complete beginners to very well informed amateurs and who welcome anybody with an interest in their family history. The members interests cover most places in Great Britain and some further afield. Very few, if any, are looking for their ancestors locally. For this reason they do not have talks that concentrate on local history but they look at the subject from a broader angle.
