The Libido language , located just to the north, is very similar lexically, but has significant morphological differences. Hadiyya is interesting in that it has a set of complex consonant phonemes consisting of a glottal stop and a sonorant IPA r , j , w , l . The New Testament has been translated in Hadiyya, published by the Bible Society of Ethiopia in 1993. It was originally done using the traditional Ethiopic syllabary. A later printing used the Latin alphabet. The Ethnologue quotes the 1998 census saying the number of speakers is 923,958, with 595,107 monolinguals. The 2007 census gives the number of speakers as a drastically reduced 253,894. The strip was set in a fictitious United Kingdom UK government research laboratory lab . Grimbledon Down s scientists engaged in all sorts of questionable research such as the production of antipornography, grossly disgusting pornography pornographic film s which were intended to turn off the audience s libido sexual drive and thus save the Earth World s civilisation from catastrophic overpopulation . Another frequent feature was attempts to create or distribute Nu Food, an artificial foodstuff made with processed human waste. Very little of Grimbledon Down s internal organisation was ever revealed, but the person in charge was evidently a recurring character named Treem no first name given , a moustached dark haired man in a chalk pinstripe business suit. Treem was apparently not a scientist, as the scientists tended to wear white lab coats, but he was clearly scientifically literate, and often got into detailed technical discussions with his staff.
