The Act did have other effects also, and was rather a mixed bag of changes. Part I introduced compulsory tendering of contracts for certain types of activities. The LocalGovernment Act, 1925 No. 5 of 1925 was enacted by the Oireachtas of the Irish Free State Oireachtas of the Irish Free State on 26 March 1925. Most of the provisions of the Act came into operation on 1 October 1925. The Act abolished rural district councils except in County Dublin , passing their powers to the county councils .
