The Ch teau deLuc is a ruined castle or ch teau in the town of Luc, Loz re Luc in the Loz re d partement in France d partement , in the Languedoc Roussillon r gion in France r gion of France . It was built in the 12th century on a previous Celt ic site. The castle, as a strategic point between the two provinces of G vaudan and Vivarais , guarded a link to the south of France of the Auvergne province Auvergne frequently used by pilgrims of Saint Gilles, Gard Saint Gilles , also known as the Regordane Way , on which it was a toll gate. For the first 100 years or so of its existence it was the home of the Luc family. In the 13th century it became the property of other regional Seigneurialism seigneur s. During the Hundred Years War it withstood a number of sieges. During the 16th century French Wars of Religion Wars of Religion the state of G vaudan garrisoned the castle. Saint Luc was born in Ath in 1616 nothing is known about his early years. In 1639 he was invited to become a musician at the court in Brussels , and two years later he had his portrait painted by Gerard Seghers . He moved to Paris in mid or late 1640s, but returned to Brussels in October 1647. The composer evidently spent the next few decades in Brussels, marrying in 1658. An important correspondent of Saint Luc s from these years was Constantijn Huygens . In August 1684 Saint Luc was still living in Brussels, but nothing is known of his whereabouts during the next 16 years the next mention of him is from 1700, when he visited Berlin on the occasion of the marriage of Frederick I of Sweden Prince Frederick of Hesse Cassel and Princess Louise Dorothea of Prussia . He apparently travelled to Berlin from Vienna , where, according to contemporary sources, he was employed by Prince Eugene of Savoy . Saint Luc was still alive in 1707 and 1708, when he published some of his composition in Amsterdam his date of death is unknown. More than 200 pieces by Saint Luc survive, and show that he was one of the most prominent lutenists of his time. De Schepper earned an MD in 1971 in Ghent , Belgium after graduation he served as a family doctor for NATO troops in West Germany for four years. He then trained in acupuncture, first at the Dutch Doctors Acupuncture Association in Amsterdam , Holland where he earned a LicAc in 1978, and then at the International Society of Acupuncture in Paris , France , where he earned at PhD in 1980.
