The Lyceum Academy was established by Gordon Massengill in 1998 at New Hanover High School in Wilmington, North Carolina . Inspired by Aristotle s famous Greek Lyceum , the modern Lyceum Academy educates high school students Junior and Senior class in an accelerated college preparatory program. Initially the Lyceum Academy primarily offered Advanced Placement courses to its students, but has expanded to include honors courses to accommodate all motivated college bound students. In 2000, the Lyceum Academy began to offer courses in the field by including excursions to Key Largo, Florida Key Largo , Atlanta, Georgia Atlanta , Asheville, North Carolina Asheville , Costa Rica , Italy , Washington, D.C. DC and Arizona among others. The Program The Lyceum Academy is composed of 100 students in the Senior Class, and 100 students in the Junior Class. The Lyceum also became home to Liverpool s subscription library , founded in 1757. This is believed to have been the first circulating or lending library in Europe. Until 1656 was Evangelic Lyceum school with eight classes, two of them elementary school. Among its students, from 1829 to 1836, was the young udov t t r , who became a member of Czech Slav Society at the school, an important influence on his life as a Slovak nationalist. He transferred the school in 1851 to Dr Carl Johan Bohman and Dr Otto von Feilitzen , who ran the school until 1875, when it was merged with the Stockholms ateneum . Lyceum is a former academic community in northern Pushmataha County, Oklahoma , two miles west of Tuskahoma, Oklahoma . A United States Post Office was established at Lyceum, Indian Territory on March 23, 1896 and operated until July 30, 1900. Its name was chosen to reflect the fact that the community hosted the Choctaw Female Academy, also known as the Tuskahoma Female Academy. The academy , which opened in 1892, burned in 1925, and the community shifted to Tuskahoma, Oklahoma . Two miles north of Tuskahoma at what the U.S. Post Office called Council House, Oklahoma is the Choctaw Capitol Building , which was built in 1884.
