The Army of Le Midi Arm e du Midi was a unit of the French army, stationed in the Le Midi region and created by royal decree of Louis XVI on 13 April 1792. It existed under this name for less than five months, and was split by a decree of the National Convention dated 1 October 1792 into the arm e des Alpes and the arm e des Pyr n es . La D p che du Midi is a regional daily newspaper published in Toulouse in south west France , with 17 editions for different areas of the Midi Pyr n es region. The paper first appeared on 2 October 1870, when it was called La D p che de Toulouse. Publication was prompted by workers at the Sirven print works in Toulouse, which established the paper s left leaning politics.It was at La D p che that the socialist politician Jean Jaur s wrote his first articles. The paper also published Georges Cl menceau . In the big issue of the day, the Dreyfus affair , the paper first insisted Alfred Dreyfus had given army secrets to the Germans but then came out in his support. The paper fell under German control after the German occupation of France during World War II occupation of 1940. Like other newspapers which had collaborated during the war, La D p che de Toulouse was closed by the post war government in 1944. It reappeared under its current name in 1947. The Cherche Midi prison was a French military prison located in Paris , France . It housed military prisoners from 1851 until 1947. Construction on the prison began in 1847, when the former convent of the Daughters of the Good Shepherd was demolished on Rue du Cherche Midi in Paris. The prison was modeled after the Auburn Correctional Facility Auburn prison in Auburn, New York , and consisted of 200 solitary confinement cells. The prison population consisted of military personnel convicted of crimes by military tribunal, draft dodger s, deserters and occasional Political prisoner political prisoners . Prisoners were not permitted to talk to each other during the day and were kept isolated in their cells at night. On June 12, 1940, immediately prior to the German occupation of France during World War II German occupation of Paris , the prison was evacuated and prisoners sent to an Internment internment camp near Mauzac . From 1940 to 1944, the prison was used to house political prisoners by the German occupation army. After the liberation of Paris , the prison was used to hold German prisoner of war prisoners of war . In 1947, all prisoners were transferred to other facilities and the prison was used as a military courthouse until 1950. In 1950, the building was placed under the control of the Minister of Justice France Ministry of Justice and abandoned. The dilapidated prison was razed in 1966, and in 1968 the cole des hautes tudes en sciences sociales opened on the site of the former prison. Famous detainees at the prison include Adolphe Feder , Kurt Gerstein , Henri Honor d Estienne d Orves , Alfred Dreyfus and Agn s Humbert . Unreferenced date December 2009 Midi, Maxi & Efti was a Sweden Swedish musical group with African influences from the early 1990s. Their two biggest hits were Bad Bad Boys and Ragga Steady . The band consisted of the two twin sisters Midi and Maxi Berhanu and their friend Freweyni Efti Teclehaimanot , all of them born in 1976. Midi and Maxi were refugees from Ethiopia and came to Sweden with their parents in 1985. Efti was born in a refugee camp in Eritrea and also arrived in Sweden in 1985. The three girls met in the Stockholm suburb of Akalla . Their self titled album was released in 1991 and spawned three singles, Bad Bad Boys , Ragga Steady and Masenqo Masenko . Although the girls contributed lyrics, most of the Africa inspired songs were in fact composed and produced by the men behind Army of Lovers Alexander Bard , Anders Wollbeck and Per Adebratt , assisted by E type and Stakka Bo . Styling was done by Jean Pierre Barda and Camilla Thulin . In 1992, the album was released in the U.S. by Columbia Records , and a video was made for Ragga Steady , directed by Frank Sacramento . The band split up after a few short tours of the U.S., South Africa and France . Their songs have been featured in the TV series Beavis and Butthead and the movies For Love or Money 1993 film For Love or Money starring Michael J. Fox and Untamed Heart . The members have since recorded songs separately, but nothing has been released.
